The Jewish Council of Australia strongly condemns Donald Trump’s suggestion the United States will ‘take over’ the Gaza Strip and move Palestinian people elsewhere. We furthermore condemn the cynical use of humanitarian language by Trump to justify his  egregious plan. This language  adds insult to injury given the mounting evidence collected by human rights organisations about Israel’s gross violations of International Humanitarian Law in its 15-months long attack on the Gaza strip. Palestinians have a right to return and a right to remain in Gaza. You can read our full statements in the latest media release at jewishcouncil.com.au.

Calling someone white is not racism. Racially profiling a brown woman is. Hope that helps x

@TheMatildas @ParamountPlusAU 1. All fans deserve to watch our Matilda's play - please ensure all games are on free-to-air 2. You should probably quit this platform - subjecting players to these hateful comments is unnecessary and fosters homophobia, sexism and hate

@PaulBongiorno Thanks for your honesty and your recommendation. I recently read this one, and the structure and personal stories made for a very moving read that has stuck with me in the months since... nathanthrall.com/a-day-in-the-l…

Just finished reading and notating this meticulously researched book. My own ignorance shocked me as much as the chronicled atrocities.

Is this actually a thing? In Australia? You’re telling me that a government is arguing against providing clean drinking water, a basic human right and the absolute minimum expectation of any authority, anywhere, certainly one that has control of public funds. Housing, clean water so as not to die of thirst or from water-borne disease, or to drink uranium, enough to eat, particularly for kids. These are the basics that government in Australia is duty-bound to provide, as rightly ruled by the court. Otherwise, move on and let someone else do the job properly. Honestly.

This morning, amidst intense fighting in Al Mawasi, a densely populated area in southern Gaza, Palestine, 12 of our team members and their families were surrounded by bombing and heavy shootings in their homes, while more than 30 others were trapped in our office. “Tanks were invading the area where we live. It was terrifying. We were lying on the ground in our homes for hours and it seemed like the gun fire was coming directly towards us,” says our colleague who is trapped in Al Mawasi. While injured people were arriving at our emergency room in the health clinic of Al Mawasi, our teams were forced to close the facility due to insecurity, leaving people without lifesaving care. We are deeply concerned for the safety of our staff and patients in Gaza and call on all parties to the conflict to protect civilians and all aid workers, and to establish an immediate and permanent ceasefire across the Strip.

“It’s kind of hard for me not to cry about this because I don’t think I have seen an army that has been so vicious and so non-stop in its aggression towards a civilian population.” Karin Huster is a nurse who worked in Gaza over 5 months. This is what she saw ⬇️
