@eniolps @mitchellh I've moved to Golang for Web side projects. Golang + vanilla JS. I'm impressed by Golang's stdlib, you don't really need much else to build a website or a server. No more npm worms.

@mitchellh Main reason I love golang. It ships with pretty much everything out of the box.

Fork your dependencies, trim them to only your use case, never update unless it breaks for your users. I’ve been vocal about this for 10+ years. I’ve always said that updating is way riskier than latent bugs (which can be tracked and CVEs monitored). If you are updating a dependency, it’s on you to analyze every single commit in the full transitive set of dependencies. If you dont see anything compelling, dont update! I remember at HashiCorp once in awhile an engineer would try to update a dep or replace a DIY lib with an external one and id always ask “show me the commit we need.” Dont update for the sake of it. Feeling pretty swell about this mentality with all the supply chain attacks happening.

@aljosa @ClaudeDevs Just a borderline strange though: what if we just code as we've done for decades instead of depending on the inevitable price hikes by LLM companies?

@starter_story I always wondered by Mailchimp and similar tools are so expensive. I literally can't wrap my head around it. I must be missing something.

$30K MRR SaaS built off ONE idea: Find a VC-backed billion dollar SaaS. And build a simpler, cheaper version. Superhuman costs $30/mo. Mailman costs $8/mo. 90% of the features for 1/4 of the cost. Some more examples: – Typeform ($59/mo) vs. Youform ($400 lifetime) – Mailchimp ($100/mo) vs. SendFox ($49 lifetime) – Intercom ($100/mo) vs. Tawk to (free to use) – Calendly ($10/seat/mo) vs. TidyCal ($29 lifetime) – Ahrefs ($99/mo) vs. Keysearch ($17/mo) – Webflow ($23/mo) vs. Carrd ($19/year) Massive opportunity here I think.

@plainionist In my experience, AI does backend much better because there isn't a UI to come up with, it's just data in data out and whatever side-effects. AI is not good at replicating UIs, let alone come up with good ones. Data is much easier to work with for AI.

Question for game devs, is X effective for marketing your games? It seems like a great place to network and connect with others, but does it actually help with sales and Wishlists? Trying to level up my marketing but not sure what type of stuff to post on here lol

@peturgeorgievv @levelsio You don't get his business model. Build a following by selling the dream. Sell to you acolytes any trash "startup" you build with AI while sitting on the throne for 20 minutes. Share the "process". Get more followers. Repeat. Profit.

@levelsio This kind of posts are really harmful. No one needs to ship 10 ideas per day, or even one per day. No one will buy someone just shipping garbage and moving to the next. It might get you some followers but that’s about it.

This took 24 minutes Back when I did 12 startups in 12 months in 2014, it took me at least a month to make a new startup and I didn't even finish it And they were in fact as basic as this kind of, because they were MVPs too! If 'd ship every day and I sleep 8 hours I have 24-8=16 hours * 60 minutes = 960 minutes per day. And it takes 24 minutes per startup with AI to build an MVP So theoretically you can build 40 ideas per day, and if you work 6 days a week that's 1,000 per month and about 12,000 per year So a decade later, you can now build 12,000 startups in 12 months
@levelsio@levelsio

✨ To prove my friend @StevieZollo (who's visiting me in Brazil) you don't need an idea, or even a lot of time these days to ship a little app that might make money I took the top idea from IdeasAI.com: "A startup that uses AI to generate personalized bedtime stories for kids based on their interests, family photos, and daily activities, delivered via a voice app. (❤️ 110 likes, 3 days ago)" So I copy pasted it into Claude Code and asked it to build it The first version of course didn't work, and I had to tell it some endpoints didn't work properly but then it fixed it The bedtime stories are generated by @xAI Grok 4.1, then sent to TTS with @GoogleAI Gemini and payment with @Stripe Checkout Total time from start to live: 24 minutes

@naval If you say this because of AI, grandma is not going to vibecode anything, neither will your average Joe. People still need companies to build, host and maintain software.

@gubatron @DonnyWals Of course it one-shots things that have been implemented millions of times. The point is that it does not one-shot anything of medium difficulty. AI is a good tool, but OP is right, it's full of grifters out there.

I one shotted this Tetris this week in 6 minutes with 5 claude sonnet 4.6 powered agents gubatron.com/tetris Source code: github.com/CloudLLM-ai/cl… I decided to see if it was true, with 4.5 it was failing. 4.6 was a step change. It's truly capable, it's amazing with planning and tool use.

It's honestly kind of wild to me how badly people want to believe "AI one-shot this" stories. Even when it's obvious that it's not possible, people want to believe. Please, for the love of everything that's good, when someone yells "AI BUILT THIS" be suspicious. It's likely someone trolling, or grifting some BS tool. Ai isn't magic. It's just a tool.

If Keir Starmer resigns, the UK can forget closer ties to the EU anytime soon. He's slowly aligning Britain to the EU, and away from the US, it's a process that needs stability. Changing PM's would put that in jeopardy. He's doing a great job with the situation he is in.
