I wonder how much of medicine is driven by drugs. For example, why did they decide that LDL cholesterol is the main marker for heart disease, rather than triglycerides or insulin? After all, triglycerides and insulin are better markers of heart disease risk. The reason? Probably because LDL cholesterol is "targetable"--there's a drug (statins) that will lower it. So it matters less that LDL is a good marker, and more that it's a number we can change with a drug. And of course, make money in the process. If there were a drug that lowered triglycerides really well, I suspect mainstream medicine would focus more on triglycerides. (Incidentally, the best way to lower triglycerides and insulin is to control consumption of refined carbohydrates.)

What golden era bodybuilders ate during their fat loss phases: Arnold ➜ 40/40/20 (Carb %/Protein %/Fat %), 1g/lb body weight, full cheat meal every 1-2 weeks Mentzer ➜ 60/25/15, (~2000 cal), cheat meal every week Serge Nubret ➜ nearly carnivore, 6-8 pounds of horse meat daily, cheat meal every 1-2 weeks Frank Zane ➜ 1 g/lb bodyweight protein, ~100g carbs, 200 carbs every 4th day Franco Columbu ➜ 50/30/20, 1g/lb bodyweight protein, full cheat meal (with Arnold) Lee Haney ➜ 50/30/20, 1.5g/lb protein bodyweight, very high carb Tom Platz ➜ High carb (~300g), very very low fat (~10g). Ice cream refeed meals occasionally *Keep in mind these are BODYBUILDERS prepping for shows, not the average person trying to lose weight.

Bodybuilders have gotten fat loss almost 100% right in my estimation. ◇ High carb ◇ High on many micronutrients ◇ Lower fat ◇ Refeed / cheat days or meals (for thyroid + leptin) ◇ Walking as primary cardio ◇ Prioritizing protein These strategies not only help optimize body composition, but also are good practices for hormones (cortisol, thyroid, testosterone especially) and long term metabolic health. Not plant based, not keto or carnivore or fasting. There are a few areas I'd modify to make it even better, and they definitely don't all eat the best or prioritize health first. But as far as fat loss goes, they've been producing results for decades consistently for a reason.

If you have high blood pressure, it’s very likely insulin resistance is the primary driver. Via at least four distinct mechanisms, insulin resistance disrupts normal blood vessel function and hemodynamics. This is why resolving insulin resistance enables so many people to reduce or eliminate blood pressure medications.

Ever heard the term 'ultra-processed foods (UPFs)'? It comes from the NOVA classification system, which groups foods into 4⃣ main categories according to the extent and purpose of processing, from unprocessed/minimally #ProcessedFoods to #UPFs.

The association between high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and the development of type-2 diabetes ▶️ Animal & human studies suggest that excessive fructose consumption contributes to metabolic disturbances, including insulin resistance, impaired glucose tolerance, and increased fat accumulation in the liver through de novo lipogenesis (DNL). ✅️ In contrast, controlled isocaloric studies in which fructose replaces other carbohydrates often demonstrate attenuation. ▶️ Thus, HFCS should not be viewed as intrinsically toxic, but rather as a contributor to metabolic risk when consumed in energy-dense diets typical of modern food environments. doi.org/10.3389/fcdhc.… @HealthyFellow @tatiann69922625 A comparison of hepatic metabolism of fructose and glucose following high sugar intake from SSBs, highlighting that increased de novo lipogenesis from fructose intake combined with reduced fatty acid oxidation contributes to hepatic fat accumulation.

I definitely believe the lipid-based view is overhyped. This study is telling (in females): pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33471027/. I've attached the main figure here. The evidence is surprising--both at how irrelevant the lipid markers appear to be and how strong the metabolic markers are. ApoB and other lipid markers may matter, but diabetes and metabolic status appears to matter much more. ApoB appeared to carry a two-fold risk, while diabetes carried a 10X risk.

Moraću da vam saopštim svoje mišljenje koje kaže da dete nakon razvoda roditelja treba da živi standardom onog roditelja koji više zarađuje i da je sve drugo teška ciganija.

6 months treatment with a shampoo containing 1% caffeine & 1% dimethylglycine sodium salt resulted in significant (p<0.001) increases in hair count, hair density, and % anagen hairs in a study of 154 men (Celleno, 2025). Caffeine has been shown to increase cAMP levels and promote cellular energy, while DMG has been shown to reduce inflammation & oxidative stress and improve local microcirculation.
