Pete Buttigieg says higher taxes would help America build fast trains. Has he seen California’s high-speed rail? "If we had a more reasonable rate of taxation on capital gains and corporate income, and made it harder to pass along inherited wealth..." "We’d be out of this doom loop we’re in saying... We can’t possibly do something like fast trains here in the United States. Of course we can. This is the wealthiest economy in the world." "If we aren't collecting a fair level of taxes, then of course we're going to come up short when we're trying to fund those things." California started its high-speed rail 18 years ago. Original cost: $33 billion. Current estimate: $230 billion. They've already spent $15 billion. They've built 0 miles of operational high-speed rail. Low taxes isn't why America can't build fast trains.

Senators Cornyn and Tillis performed their crucial oversight role. They worked in good-faith, got a disagreement resolved, and delivered a big win for President Trump and the American people. This is how the constitutional process is supposed to work.

From the outset, Senator @JohnCornyn and I were clear that we needed a written document addressing our concerns on the IRS audit agreement and the anti-weaponization fund that included constraining the scope of audit protection by limiting it to the parties of the Settlement Agreement and legally ending the anti-weaponization fund. We are pleased that the Department of Justice has issued a formal order terminating the anti-weaponization fund. Additionally, the Department has acknowledged in a binding written order that the audit settlement is limited to the plaintiffs and the scope does not extend beyond the defendants in the lawsuit, the IRS and the Treasury, addressing concerns that multiple of our Republican colleagues share. We want to express our gratitude to Mr. Blanche and his staff for working with us on this, and we look forward to voting to advance his nomination out of the Senate Judiciary Committee soon.

“The U.S.A. is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran, at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II. Despite this, we have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to. This would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT…” - President Donald J. Trump

Humans are inclined to think the best of people. When a grifter like Massie comes along, sells a good story for a few years, then flips the grifting switch… people are inclined to trust him before checking. The reach of the internet is a massive multiplier for con artists. In the not too distant past, people like Massie and MTG would be tarred, feathered and chased out of town for the long con / bait-and-switch they pulled

This is a perfect example of how so much of the discussion on here is driven by conspiracy theorists and liars. Thomas Massie is an obvious and prominent example of both. Almost 1 million views on his post... The bill he voted against, HR 8595, was the standard annual appropriations bill for State Department funding in 2027. Massie was the only Republican to vote against it because he's an unreliable and mostly worthless member of Congress who always finds an excuse to vote with Democrats on key bills. More importantly, the bill has 0 language related to Spain, Ceuta, or Morocco. These things are not mentioned at all in the appropriations bill. Search it yourself. So what's the screenshot he posted? It's a non-binding committee report simply stating U.S. policy. It absolutely does not "green light" the transfer of Spanish territory to Morocco. It obviously has nothing to do with the recent migrant rush into Ceuta. Massie obviously knows this. So why lie about this? Because he rightly assumes no one will check the bill, and that's what gets Massie clicks and feeds into the conspiratorial view of the world he's trying to sell.
Thomas Massie@RepThomasMassie

Don’t fall for the fake Fox/GOP outrage. Two weeks ago the House passed a bill that greenlighted the transfer of Spanish territory to Morocco. Every Republican except me voted for it, but now THEY are acting shocked at the invasion. congress.gov/119/bills/hr85… congress.gov/119/bills/hr94…

Despite comments as late as yesterday that the fund is dead, President Trump clearly intends to resurrect the payout pot for punks either by inappropriately establishing another bogus fund or pushing Congress to vote for a bill that the majority of Republicans in the Senate would be against. It’s unfortunate that Todd Blanche, who I consider qualified for the job, will not be confirmed because of this reversal. Hopefully, we can resolve this by Tuesday.
Julie Tsirkin@news_jul

President Trump’s insistence that his anti-weaponization fund is not only not going away, but now he wants LEGISLATION to codify it, is exactly why Senators Cornyn and Tillis wouldn’t take Todd Blanche’s word for it:

A prominent liberal is breaking with Mamdani over his new property database. Podcaster Scott Galloway says he discovered his own name and address were 'doxed' by the city's searchable database identifying affluent property owners. Galloway backed Mamdani's proposed pied-à-terre tax itself, but he argues publishing property owners' information turns a legitimate tax proposal into a "wanted poster." Galloway lamented that the New York City mayor was vindicating conservatives’ worst fears and "making it harder for all progressives." foxnews.com/media/liberal-…

WTF is wrong with you? Guess it doesnt matter when it wasnt your loved ones dying in nursing homes, your biz being destroyed, your kids missing major milestones while you are praising Fauci and your brother for theses blatant lies and still partying in Greenport and ignoring their rules in the Hamptons and Manhattan. I am disappointed in myself for ever thinking you might have an ounce of humanity @ChrisCuomo and that we might be able to find common ground. Now I know

Fauci was wrong about virtually everything. We were right all along. -Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine worked—safe, early treatments that were deliberately suppressed. -Masks were theater, not science. -Lockdowns caused far more harm than good. -Remdesivir was, and remains, harmful. -The mRNA injections carried serious risks that were never honestly disclosed. -Six-foot “social distancing” was an arbitrary invention with no rigorous basis. -PCR testing was massively overused and produced huge numbers of false positives that were treated as real infections. -The case fatality rate for most people was low. -COVID originated from the Wuhan lab, and NIH funding flowed into gain-of-function research there. Fauci funded and defended that research while publicly denying it. He lied to protect his position, his funding streams, and his power. He harmed ordinary Americans—patients, families, children—to advance his own money and control. This man should face real accountability. Put the villain in prison.

Bernie says he doesn't think there should be billionaires. The billionaire gov of IL said these kinds of statements shouldn't apply to him, since "it's about what you actually accomplish for people, not how much money you have." Bernie doesn't talk about this for some reason.

Elon Musk spent $290 million to elect Trump. His investment worked. He is now $438 billion richer. Now, he wants to buy Congress by spending $100 million to keep Republicans in control. We must fight oligarchy. Defeat Musk. Preserve democracy.
