@ste_lux Never said I agree w/ his solution (I don’t). Merely pointing out that the sociological conclusions he’s connecting are hard to deny.

@BitcoinBoetZA lol, Switzerland doen't even have public healthcare, and is arguably one of the most capitalist countries in the world 🤣🤣

@Greencandleit she may be right, but she didn't mention Bitcoin at all and never has. She actually has been targeting Bitcoin with higher taxes. She is not a friend of Bitcoin...

@MacroJason I hope you are aware that Italian food is not limited to pasta and pizza 😅😅
English

Italian food is a scam - 95% carbs and 5% meat.
Then you walk out to the plaza and get harassed by sub saharans trying to 'gift' you a bracelet, gypsies trying to pick pocket you and the police refuse to take action.
Better be a tourist in Prague or Budapest if you're after historical Euro architecture - real food, safe and locals you can deeply respect for protecting their countries well so far.

@JakeNomada @ColinPost As an European, i can tell you that bilingual or even trilingual kids are very common here. Later in life it will feel like a superpower for them knowing two-three languages “just like that”

I panicked at Easter when my 4-year-old daughter seemed "behind" her 2-year-old cousin in English vocabulary
Brief but real moment of dad guilt — "am I failing my kids?"
Then I remembered what @ColinPost told me in Lima about a decade ago
Surprisingly, the research seems to back him up...

@MyLatinLife I think it riskier for a EU country to introduce worldwide taxation than for it to leave the EU.

@thealepalombo oh yeah the "drizzle", you can get weeks of drizzle without ever seeing a ray of sunshine. It gets tough.

Luxembourg is underrated. Three official languages, English widely spoken, at the geographic heart of Europe, no wealth tax for individuals, and 0% tax on capital gains held for longer than 6 months.*
"Switzerland without wealth tax?" Not quite. But if we are talking about stable, Swiss-like systems, Luxembourg deserves to be mentioned far more often than it is.
I know it fairly well: international, multicultural, excellent schools, multilingual education, excellent healthcare, and a real job market, especially in finance. Paris, Brussels, and Frankfurt are all roughly 2 hours away.
Around 682K people overall. Luxembourg City about 138K. Nearly half the country is foreign-born, one of the highest ratios anywhere in the world.
Yes, some people will find it boring. But it is very safe, politically stable, and solid. It is also one of the preferred jurisdictions for fund structuring: trusted, and deeply embedded in cross-border capital flows, especially for Asian wealth.
Smaller structures pay 15% CIT on income up to €175K, around 21% all-in (considering surcharges and municipal tax). Not zero, so not a pure tax play for corporate structuring, but more efficient than most assume.
Why is Luxembourg discussed so little?
