CJ Abrams OAA at Shortstop by year 2023: -9 2024: -18 2025: -11 2026: -6 Meanwhile Nasim Nunez is electric with the glove and would be the Nats best defensive SS maybe ever. Sooner or later Abrams to 2B needs to happen, especially with all the shortstops coming up the Nats system

@petebvt The first two points seem a lot less applicable for a DC than a HC, so I’m not sure it matters. And because of that (plus his overall track record as a DC), I don’t think I see a scenario where the defense greatly struggles.

The genuine concerns about Pry as DC are: -a chunk of players who will be on the team next year quit on him -the defensive development and overall play declined every year under his watch -If the D struggles, Franklin may not address it objectively due to their relationship

This is truly bizarre. People made this joke 1000 times when we were looking at Franklin as the HC, and now it looks like it’s happening. Pry was a very good DC at PSU, but it’s hard to get past his VT players quitting on him - many of those players will be back next year.
