The main thing we learnt from the milkshake duck was that he was back on the circuit a year later.

It was very annoying buying a new build in 2021 and not having solar panels by default. We can't afford them now, but if they had just been included on top of our mortgage, we could conceivably have paid the extra costs spread over 30 years.

The biggest cringe comes from when interesting social media accounts get big. They usually begin to post less about their topic of interest and instead spam gushing thanks for becoming "famous". I don't care about your fucking journey. Tell me more about 1970s lamppost design.

Lots of people posting supposedly ‘random’ numbers as a kind of gotcha. But they’re not random. They’ve got meaning. Try using a random number generator in future.

@Peter__Wood @AkshatRathi This is such a weird argument. The fact that people who live far away from stuff have to pay more for travel seems a normal part of how the economy works.

@AkshatRathi Agree, lots of externalities. Problem with fuel tax is it hits rural folk who don't have public transport as an alternative. There are a handful of petrol stations that have some tax deals, like Hawes in N. Yorkshire. I wonder if you could do a bit more of that.

Finally, it's happening. The fuel duty has been frozen since 2011. It's such a long-running scandal that it doesn't even feel like a scandal. Carbon Brief analysis: "duty freezes may have increased UK total greenhouse gas emissions by 7% since 2010." theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

I tried it myself. I left here (not for noble reasons, just for technical and bug related reasons) and I stayed away for ethical reasons. Until I realised that everywhere else is a ghost town. So I came back. You can't leave this place. Try it, if you don't believe me.

I've seen folk saying they're going to leave Twitter for over a year now, and they never do. They make a big announcement that they're leaving, they fuck off, then come back about a month later when it doesn't work out, either due to boredom or numbers. They'll never leave.
