I’m committed to making sure the people that run this city can afford to live in it. We are not going to roll back hard-earned raises from tipped workers, who are overwhelmingly Black and Brown women.

Some observations about AI use in a legal context: 1) Litigation. I’ve mentioned it in this thread, but I’ve been seeing AI generated demand letters and complaints for a few years now. If done well, it’s given the appearance of attorney backing (which

One Supreme Court certiorari grant today, likely to be argued next term. This is a complicated question about when an affirmative defense may be raised. The Eleventh Circuit opinion is very long and thorough, drafted "Per Curiam" (for the Court) from Judges Branch, Luck, Lagoa

Apparently Mayor Brandon Johnson is working hard to outdo Zohran Mamdani as the most antisemitic mayor in the country. I’ve been cautious for over two years, but I’ve now seen enough evidence.

It really does feel like Chicago politicians sympathize more with criminals than victims of crime. I don't get it. Who cares if she "startled" this guy who was illegally carrying a gun? Loyola Beach is a gun free zone after all!
CWBChicago@CWBChicago

Imagine being an alderman, having a college freshman murdered in your ward, and, before the suspect is even identified, posting a video in which you brainstorm an excuse that maybe the victim "startled" the guy who killed her. God Almighty.

.@GovPritzker, I saw your post honoring lives lost in Minnesota—standing publicly, naming Alex Pretti and Renee Good, and laying flowers in their memory. But where was that same compassion on January 19, 2025? That is the day my 20-year-old daughter, Katie Abraham, was killed here in Illinois. She was innocent. She did not knowingly put herself in the middle of an ongoing law enforcement situation. She was not making a dangerous choice. She was simply living her life—and it was taken from her. You have never said her name. You have never come to where she died. You have never acknowledged her publicly. And beyond that—you have never even responded to me. I sent you a simple, non-political letter. Not for attention. Not for headlines. Just a father asking for clarity, for answers, and for understanding of the state’s position. You never replied. And now, in the wake of another tragedy here in Chicago, your public display of compassion elsewhere—while remaining silent about victims in your own state—feels deeply disconnected from the reality families like mine are living every day. Instead, you continue to defend sanctuary policies that create the conditions where preventable tragedies like hers can happen. This is not about politics. It’s about leadership and accountability. When you choose to publicly mourn some victims while remaining silent about others—especially those lost under policies you support—it sends a message. Whether intentional or not, it tells families like mine that our loss does not matter the same way. So I am asking you directly: Where is your compassion for my daughter? Where is your acknowledgment of victims here in Illinois? And when will you take responsibility for the consequences of the policies you defend? Say her name: Katie Abraham. Stand where she died. Show the people of Illinois that every life matters.
Governor JB Pritzker@GovPritzker

Standing with Minnesotans tonight and paying my respects to Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

PSA to Jews in America: Buy a gun. Learn how to shoot a gun. Make sure you have ample ammo. Keep your head on a swivel. Yes, this is what being a Jew looks like in today's world. Adapt or die.

CHICAGOANS! Whether transplants or born-and-raised, we have to stop coping with the lakefront/riverwalk-posting and face reality. Chicago is in trouble. YoY, things are getting worse: its financial sector is falling behind Dallas, population is stagnant while the national population grows, and public spending, debt and taxes are ballooning w/o services improving. Chicago needs to be allowed to file bankruptcy to wipe out bad debt and unsustainable pension obligations and recover while its local economy is still robust and intact, before it’s too late and it enters a death spiral. Chicago has great assets, but we need a financial fresh start, there’s no shame in bankruptcy. We also have to stop electing incompetent, insecure, provincial weirdos to manage a global city; that’s never going to work. If local problems weren’t enough, the unaccomplished trust fund baby Governor is actively selling out city finances for union support in pursuit of pie-in-the-sky dreams of becoming POTUS. The Bay Area has already surpassed Chicago economically, it is in fact “America’s Third City” and Dallas isn’t far behind (-15%). Wake up, Chicago—it’s not 2008 anymore!
Anatoly Karlin 🧲💯@akarlin

US metro estimates of GDP for 2024 have been released. You can see how absurdly rich the SF Bay Area is. SF + San Jose had a combined GDP lower than Chicago in 2012. Today, they're 35% bigger. We need to start thinking of SF, not Chicago, as America's third city.

Oregon in the current year: Tren de Aragua members abduct woman and torture her with a power drill to steal her debit card info, turn out to be living in a drug den that is listed as a “drug rehab facility” receiving $2.3 million/year in Oregon Medicaid funds. Owners have likely stolen more than $60 million by laundering it through Rwanda. The only local journalist covering the story says state officials are told directly about this and simply don’t care. Modern blue state America is basically a foreign looting operation.

Pack it up boys, it's over. All it took was a few Marxist cry bullies to completely halt the political agenda that 72 million people voted for. We're not allowed to have a country because a few liberals pitched a tantrum.

@avidseries @mysteriouskat @PeacyPete Why did he tell you they fled? Arabs largely fled at time of war of independence bc they figured the surrounding countries would kill all the Jews and give the land back to them. Didn’t turn out that way and they weren’t allowed back in. Those who stayed are largely still there
