That's such a wild range of ages to be. When covid hit, some Gen Z were supposed to start their careers and got their lives ruined, while the others were stunted by online learning and masks in 2nd grade

@ChildPleez007 Called dr’s office today to schedule 2 diff appts. AI bot scheduled 1st one but then got confused & transferred me to a person. Person reviewed 1st appt & said the time AI picked didn’t work, so had to schedule both anyway. What benefit did AI provide me or the dr’s office?

I miss ye olde days when you were able to call a company & a real person answers the phone & they actually helped you. Automation is a disaster.

@itsXora_ @LFauexProd My daughter watched Wonder Pets as a preschooler. Every plot was the same, a baby pet was in trouble & had to be rescued & returned to its mom. Still, every episode she worried the baby pet would die. Eventually, she recognized the pattern, which stopped her interest in the show.

@LFauexProd Honestly pretty normal for a kid. I used to hide my face at any suspense, it can be overexciting for sensitive kids, nothing bad they just have to keep being exposed.

Recently heard something concerning from friend with child. She apparently cannot watch ANY movie without having an anxiety attack. The concept of narrative tension itself is too upsetting.

Longtime college friend of mine, Mike Prinke, was among those laid off at Epic Games: he has been fighting terminal brain cancer, and now he, his wife, and kid, have no income or health insurance. Sharing here in hopes it can reach the right people on their behalf. #epicgames

Hey @Target in Swansea Massachusetts: I have tolerated the disheveled displays, trash around the store and lack of open registers but letting these plants dry up and die is really bothering me. I took a gallon of water off your shelf and took care of these but please make sure someone waters them again tomorrow. Thank you. P.S: if you can't afford to staff your stores, close some. I would happily drive further if I knew the store was clean and there were employees around. These stores are dumps.

I fully expected to match the chart & have brown haired kids, maybe a blonde, but none with red hair. We have 4, two with blonde and 2 with red. Hair color genetics is much more complicated than it seems.

@Level100Sass @Moonlight_myths Oh dear. Both me and my husband are natural redheads with copper hair and very pale complexion, and I was sure we’d have some flaming redheads - but our firstborn is blonde, the second a very very pale translucent strawberry blonde.

My sister gave birth to a red-haired daughter. But she and her husband are both dark-haired. No one in our family has red hair. My sister insists that her husband's great-grandfather was red-haired, and that's how it was passed down. Her husband didn't believe her, especially since she has this one red-haired colleague at work. Anyway, he insisted on a DNA test, which they did after huge fights and screaming matches. My sister threw the paper in his face. It showed 99.9% he's the father. But he still doesn't believe it, says the test could have been faked or someone paid off the lab. He wants to do another one at a different lab, but my sister is afraid this will definitely lead them to divorce He's not even talking to my sister right now. But he says it's better to find out the truth and live with a clear conscience. He doesn't want to raise someone else's child. I believe my sister 100%, but I have to admit the situation is pretty bizarre. Does anyone know anything about genetics?

@tagsalegirl I’m 50, and I still have lots of particle board stuff I bought from IKEA 30 years ago. It’s attractive, light, easy to move and clean behind. I certainly don’t mind other furniture, but I really loathe how we have to denigrate cheap useful stuff. People need and love it!

Modern mass produced furniture is made of cardboard, cyanide, and baby tears. If you give a pottery barn or restoration hardware table a stern look it will collapse with more drama than a Victorian debutante with upwardly mobile aspirations. When at all possible- consider buying vintage or antique furniture, decor, and housewares. Boomers are liquidating their stuff so loads of *very* high quality furniture is hitting the market for a song. Garage sales, flea markets, thrift stores, and Facebook marketplace are all great sources to score amazing deals on pieces that were built to last, have a soul and a story, and won’t increase the carbon footprint. Here’s some of my old stuff. Almost everything I got fur $50 and under!

@psi_001 @PaulaMc007 @AngusWhite18 It realistically could limit her options to emigrate, but I’m not sure how desirable it would be to move to a country that is hostile and discriminating to her just for existing. Overall, the diagnosis has given her confidence she can achieve despite her limitations.

@psi_001 @PaulaMc007 @AngusWhite18 She would likely not disclose her diagnosis to her employer, unless forced to explain “her quirkiness.” I do have concerns about the feasibility of her holding a job long-term, but that is due to the traits that got her the diagnosis, more than just having the diagnosis.

@utafrith has been working in autism research since the 1960s. Very few people have this sort of perspective on what has changed in that time. We need to listen.

@PaulaMc007 @AngusWhite18 When my daughter was diagnosed at age 7, I remember being shocked. She was hyperlexic, taught herself to read at 4, loved to peruse a children’s thesaurus. She’s 15 now & communicates fine, but it’s very clear most other teens have no interest in talking to her. She has 1 friend.

@AngusWhite18 #Oliverscampaign Not a learning disability at all because your cognitive function was/is not at a level to meet that criteria I think most autistic people will be delayed in their social and communication levels, often inappropriately considered as immaturity
