If you're on the south end of the city, people generally have a southern accent. Much of the east end has a general midwest accent.
Quickly returns to southern accents as you go outside 265.

I see this argument a lot, and it’s a fun debate honestly, so I come with pure intentions.
I’m probably in the top 1% of KY travelers.
Louisville is not a Midwestern city. It’s nothing like Indy, Cincinnati, Columbus, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland etc. Maybe pockets are, maybe?

In KY, essentially everything south of I-275 in NKY is the south. I’ve been to 80% of the counties in KY. Yes, nearly 100/120.
Went to college in Bowling Green. I grew up in rural KY — actual rural KY on a farm, not a burb.
It’s culturally nothing like the Midwest whatsoever

Dear Kentucky, You are a wonderful state, blessed by God Almighty with some of the prettiest scenery around. A state full of wonderful people. A state that I’ve spent more time in than any other state besides Tennessee (which is saying something for a rambler like me.) From Pikeville, to Pendleton, and on to Paducah… the Bluegrass state is an entire category unto its own. Parts of it are pure Appalachia. Parts of it are plateau. Parts of it are basically the Midwest. All of that is wonderful and fine and great, use whatever adjective you want to. I love and respect all of those things, but the one thing Kentucky is not is Southern, geographically or culturally.

@KentonHornbeck Louisville does have some historic German influence (we have neighborhoods called Germantown and Schnitzelburg), although, it was ethnically cleansed.

much of the Midwest was built by, and influenced by, German immigrants and settlers. There is a little influence of this in KY, but by and large, the vast, vast majority of the state is country, WASP culture in almost every county

They also tested a rocket launched from an aircraft at ~8,000 m, which they say is Europe’s first air-launch of its kind.
