@_amitbehere Humehsaasi हम-एहसासी ہم احساسی ( also hum ehsaas) is urdu and hindi word for empathy. Humdardi हमदर्दी ہمدردی is also nearer to empathy then to sympathy.

I just realized there is no exact equivalent word for "empathy" in Hindi. Or any Indian language. Explains a lot, doesn't it. The closest one is the Sanskrit "samvedana" which is very close to empathy but not quite and is not broadly used. This concept of feeling/sharing/understanding someone else's pain, trauma and suffering is very alien to our culture. Because our culture is basically the caste system. And caste system actually actively *disincentivizes* empathy. We have words for kindness, compassion, love, charity, generosity, but not for empathy. Frankly, many older cultures don't understand and define empathy. Not just ours. It's an highly evolved concept, an high evolved word. And we we are a highly unevolved, backward culture.

Is Dhurandhar a film or a campaign ad? By blending real tragedies like 26/11 with unsubstantiated political theories, the makers have created a potent tool for narrative building. Cinema should inspire, but not at the cost of rewriting history for political convenience!

Anyone who knows really about ONGC should know. However , it’s important to distinguish between actions of individuals and the character of an institution like ONGC. For most part of its history, @ONGC_ has been among India’s most professionally run PSUs. Its performance can't always said to have been driven solely by global crude prices as people assume. Its organisational legacy, leadership, and technical talent played a crucial role in past. ONGC’s own geoscientists and engineers were majorly instrumental in discoveries like Bombay High, which significantly reduced India’s oil import dependence for decades. That defied earlier skepticism about India's hydrocarbon potential. ONGC’s turnaround of private sector MRPL into a profitable entity within a short span remains a notable example of its capabilities. Leaders like Subir Raha had helped shape ONGC into a globally respected organization it is today. Let that sink in that ONGC has also nurtured most of the present day talent that powers India’s oil and gas ecosystem. Rather than speaking off the cuff for the gallery, if there are concerns people may scrutinise whether leadership talent, and institutional freedom are  aligning with the present demands of such a complex sector and the ways to improve it.

India was a serious strategic state only for a few years after independence. Then corruption and non-serious and unaccountable netas and babus took over. It's not about BJP or Congress. Anyone knows about ONGC would know...
Gurdeep Singh Sappal@gurdeepsappal

In the early 1950s, Russia was offering crude oil to India in rupees. The US opposed it even then. 95% of the market was in the control of three Western MNCs - Burmah Shell, Stanvac, and Caltex. They refused to accept Russian oil. It was then that Minister Keshav Dev Malviya moved the proposal for oil exploration and production in India itself, which got active support from PM Nehru. US and Britain refused technical help and financial support for oil exploration, arguing that a poor country like India didn’t need to venture out for such an expensive adventure. But India went ahead. ONGC was established in 1955. Within two years, KD Malviya ensured that 100 geologists and geophysicists were trained. By 1959, India struck oil! Since then, ONGC has led India’s energy security programme. It became India’s most profitable company. By 2014, it was debt-free, with cash reserves of 13,000 crore rupees. India produced 27% of its domestic oil needs. Now it is 13%! Come 2025. ONGC is under a debt of 78,000 crore rupees. The money for exploration was diverted to write off loans and dead investment of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation worth nearly 26,000 crore rupees and fund the deficit of the Union Government by forcing ONGC to buy stakes of HPCL for 36,000 crore rupees, which went to the union budget! So the exploration suffered, and our domestic production of crude oil is falling. I write for National Herald that how the Modi government strangulated oil exploration, profiteered from oil imports, and squeezed money out of the common people in the form of taxes. Now is the time to protect them from rising crude oil prices by giving subsidies, by taking a cue from the UPA government and Dr. Manmohan Singh’s policies. @NH_India @INCIndia @RahulGandhi @kharge

No, this is not a Chinese Robot by Galgotia University, it’s a life saving solution discovered by the students of a Government Polytechnic. A Sonic wave Fire extinguisher that uses low frequency sound waves to push Oxygen molecules away from the fire and extinguish it. At the time when we have witnessed 2 deadly fires in DelhiNCR, this needs to be made popular and available in a practically usable form.

Iran has kept the Straight of Hormuz toll-free for decades despite being vilified, sanctioned, and Isolated. Egypt charges $300,000 – $700,000+ per transit through the Suez Canal. Ultra-large container ships or tankers can exceed $1 million. Panama charges $150,000 – $450,000 per transit. Large Neopanamax ships cost up to $500,000+ to pass the Panama Canal. Turkey charges fees for the Bosporus Strait. Canada charges fees for the St Lawrence Seaway. The United States charges for the St Lawrence Seaway. But Iran is a bad country.

Globally the leaders are addressed without honorifics. 'Indira Gandhi' and 'Rajiv Gandhi' were not just names but political brands, with no Mrs, Mr or Ji when addressing as third person. Everyone used to call her Indira Gandhi. No one also calls Mr Trump or Mr Macron, or Mr Obama while addressing, unless sitting next to them. This fake obsession with self defined 'paramparas' for appeasement is what you guys have created. He himself might actually love the way Indira Gandhi used to be called, just by her name.

@saybwala @Airtel_Presence @airtelindia You should always have full control over the router. Login with original credentials to modem. Of course if the people who supplied and installed the router didn't bother to tell you the original password which you should have asked ideally them. Try 192.168.1.1 to initiate.

What so far @ShashiTharoor ( and may be @ManishTewari) had been obliquely sliding towards is now an idealogical revolt which is neither in the interest of Congress nor of the nation. Why does Congress remain shy of decisive actions like showing him the door? What stops them doing this is exactly what stops them from returning to past glory. @INCIndia @RahulGandhi @kharge

My latest #TharoorThink column in the @IndianExpress explains why I have not joined the widespread liberal critique of the Indian government’s “moral failure” to condemn the US-Israeli attack on Iran. India has too much at stake to indulge in the morally gratifying grandstanding that could have placed vital national interests at risk. As the late Kofi Annan advised me, citing a Ghanaian proverb: “never hit a man on the head when you have your fingers between his teeth!”

I wish @NewIndianXpress which is otherwise a responsible newspaper should check their facts before running Gobellion Propaganda This is what I had said 👇 Strategic Autonomy is a sum of many parts . While it is correct to say that India must be circumspect given that our diaspora is spread all across the Greater Middle East and our energy and food security imperatives but Strategic autonomy also means : 1. Should regime change by coercive means be accepted by India ? Answer is NO. 2. Should India accept targeted assassination’s and abduction of leaders and functionaries of sovereign governments? Answer is NO 3. Should India not condole the Assassination of a Head of State and the killing of innocent schoolchildren in a missile strike ? Answer is Yes 4. Strategic autonomy also means upholding the principles that form the core of our foreign and strategic policy thought going back to 1947 . Strategic Autonomy like mentioned above and underscored for emphasis is a sum of many moving parts. This above 👆 is for those who selectively extrapolate out of context to run cynically political agenda’s.
The New Indian Express@NewIndianXpress

Striking a different note, Congress leaders @ShashiTharoor and @ManishTewari have voiced support for the Centre’s ‘cautious approach’ towards the ongoing conflict between US-Israel and Iran. The remarks come at a time when the party leadership has raised serious doubts about the direction and credibility of India’s foreign policy. 🔗newindianexpress.com/nation/2026/Ma… #WestAsiaWar @bhadrakali20

What faith one believes in today may not believe in tomorrow. That is right one can exercise as many times. If the faith one is born into is stably better why would one discard it and moves on, that should be debated by faithfuls rather than using state force to impose what one refuses to believe any more. In a democracy State's control over what faith an adult citizen follows is as questionable or unconstitutional as the state breaching one's privacy at home.

In a country where Kareena Kapoor gets trolled mercilessly for naming her son Taimur or Jehangir, now YOUR choice to change religion will be decided by the government and jobless vigilantes around you? After North Indian cow belt states, Maharashtra's Assembly and Council just rammed through the "Religious Freedom Bill" under Devendra Fadnavis's govt. They claim it's just to stop "forced conversions" (aka their pet term "Love Jihad"). But the truth? This shreds your privacy rights—mandating a 60-day advance notice for any conversion, publicly displayed for all to see! Result: Families pressured, fake complaints filed, and mob tamasha everywhere. We've seen attacks even for inter-caste marriages by your own relatives—imagine this for religion! This isn't freedom; it's a policing state turning Maharashtra into "gau patra" territory, where your personal faith becomes public fodder "to save you." Wake up, Maharashtra! Your bedroom decisions are now BJP's business! youtu.be/C-5_gVSmtuQ?si…

He is not uncomfortable talking to you but he wants to talk to his pari all for himself, exclusive. It’s your mom who might be always keenly interested and rushes near phone every time you call. At that very moment papa finds it better to hand over phone to her. And it happens so very often. You don’t know sitting at far !! I know this because I know it.

Indian dads are different. I called my father to talk to him (not a family group call). We talked barely for 15 seconds, and then he passed the phone to Mom, saying, "Le Mummy se baat kar le." I was like, 'I called you because I want to talk to you, not Mumma. Why are fathers so uncomfortable on calls?'
