@Gladstonian1953 @tleehumphrey So a formal but non-binding agreement signed by two governments that sets out shared goals and a framework « we agree to work together on this” so certain results. Got it

@tilap @tleehumphrey Typical styling of agreements between sovereign nations. Because there's no court that can enforce them.

@bgirard_liberal Without asking AI can you tell me how many satellites Canada has sent to space since the first one in 1962? Also how much it cost to send a satellite upstairs via third party? And last question how many satellites we will have to lunch to break even on this investment

Our Prime Minister is promoting Canadian launchpads for satellites to strengthen our sovereignty while the LOO is promoting his visit on an American podcast and his gift of a workout kettlebell with a maple leaf to a podcaster who has repeatedly denigrated our people. It is quite a contrast in priorities and style.
Mark Carney@MarkJCarney

So much of Canada’s military capability, and nearly 20% of our economy, relies on satellites. We’re making an historic investment toward a Canadian-owned launch pad to send satellites into orbit — strengthening the @CanadianForces, our sovereignty, and our economic security.

@Gladstonian1953 @tleehumphrey Got to be a MOU somewhere. 99% of what Carney has done internationally all ended up with a MOU. No real commitments.

@WHMTE Kind of agree, but with the bad habits of them government to control information (like the PMO is well known for it) . Is it a failure of DND or DND just following orders.

Big news: The Canadian Modular Assault Rifle (CMAR) is coming! We’re replacing the C7/C8 rifle family with a modern, Canadian-made system that delivers 40 years of technology evolution. This is about precision, adaptability, and readiness for the future fight. 1/3
LGen Michael Wright, CCA/CAC@Army_Comd_Armee

Today's announcement is a win for Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces. Rifles remain foundational to soldier effectiveness in the field, and this development brings over 40 years of technology evolution to Canada's fighting forces. 1/3

You can tell how much the Coast Guard is valued by media by the fact they got a major vessel design contracted and yet zero people have reported about it like a week later.

@ryangerritsen OTHR gets around that by using high-frequency (HF) radio waves that are deliberately bounced off the ionosphere. The signal travels beyond the horizon, reflects off the target, and bounces back the same way.

Here is a clip from a recent interview with Carney. Listen to this and tell me Canada hasn’t solely relied on the US for protection. Our war equipment was barely 50% operational? You can bet thats still the case. The new “over the horizon radar” he speaks of is a complete scam. We have NORAD, what does he mean it will see over the North Pole? Who is he kidding with this? Im surprised he released this.

@AlexRMcColl They sent F-16 because the alert fighter unit for the Eastern Air Defense Sector (EADS) is in new jersey . The 177th Fighter Wing flies F-16s. This explain that.

"Quebec provincial police say one man could face fraud charges after a security incident resulted in two commercial flights being escorted by fighter jets into the Montreal airport on Wednesday. The Sûreté du Québec had previously said both men, one in his 20s and the other in his 30s, could face charges. But spokesperson Laurie Avoine said Thursday morning that has since been revised. Both men have been released pending further proceedings, Ms. Avoine said. She added that the investigation is ongoing and has not yet been referred to Quebec’s public prosecution service, which would decide whether to lay charges." @MauraForrest

@MarkJCarney @ForcesCanada Last satellites we launch cost $16 millions for 3 Satellites. That was in 2025 after 13 years of not sending anything in space. To make that $200 millions make sense $$$$ wise we will have to lunch 13 rockets. Just wait for the flop

Canada is building reliable critical mineral supply chains at home, and with trusted partners abroad. Today, we took another step by signing an agreement with Peru on critical minerals and sustainable mining. Canada is Peru's second-largest mining investor, making this is a natural partnership. Deepening cooperation means securing more copper -- one of the most critical inputs for electrification -- and other critical minerals through traceable, sustainable supply chains. This is how we secure our sovereignty, catalyze two-way investment, and open new export opportunities for our mining sector.
