Road use charges coming to Australia!
Clearly small businesses and the transport industry had no representatives at the governments recent summit.

Just wrapped our Q2 earnings call and we delivered once again.
GMV up 31% to $87.8B. Revenue up 31% to $2.7B. Free cash flow margin was 16%.
But as you know, my favourite part of these calls is talking about how the biggest brands continue to come to Shopify! A big welcome to @CanadaGoose, @Starbucks and @burtonsnowboard.
Consistency, follow through, durable growth. That’s Shopify’s MO. And now back to building.

Wow, @Trustpilot is misleading, predatory, and all other similar words you can think of. I randomly noticed that we average 3.4 on our Trustpilot reviews. Which seemed weird when we average 4.9 over 7660 reviews through @judgeme. So, I did the math. We have 126 Trustpilot reviews: 1 star: 5 2 star 0 3 star: 2 4 star: 16 5 star: 103 Arithmetic average: 4.68 Average according to Trustpilot aka. their TrustScore: 3.4 🙃 Wtf? Their explanation: "The calculation is based on various parameters such as a company's total number of reviews and the date the reviews were created. The TrustScore is also affected by whether a company actively invites its customers to review them or not." Let me translate that for you: Trustpilot deliberately lower the average ratings of merchants using other review platforms and masks it as a proprietary "TrustScore algorithm". In reality, the only way to get many reviews, recent reviews, and actively invite customers to review on Trustpilot - the "various parameters" in their explanation - is... by using Trustpilot. The last Trustpilot quote I got was $400/month. And that's over 5 years ago when we were a fraction of the business we are to day. So, because I'm not willing to pay that, which I wouldn't be surprised is +$1000/month now, they just smudge our brand by giving us a bad score instead. SCAM.

Trustpilot just tried to extort us.
We’ve used them for years to collect real, honest reviews from our AppSumo customers.
Sent them free traffic. Never paid for fake reviews. Just wanted transparency.
Now they’re threatening legal action us unless we pay.
Apparently, showing our own customers’ reviews on our own website is a problem… unless we pay Trustpilot.
Feels backward.
- We ask customers to leave reviews.
- Reviews are showcased publicly.
- Now they want charge us to show those reviews???
We’re likely removing Trustpilot from all of our sites.
If you're a founder, beware.

We’ve had some positive news with Blake. He came out of an induced coma this morning. He was responsive, knew who all his loved ones were and is fighting hard.
He has a lot of internal bleeding from a punctured lung, which they’re getting on top of. He is still heavily sedated whilst they are working on broken ribs and collarbone.
A lot of work to go but we are over the moon about news the last 12 hours as he was in a bad way when he arrived at the hospital.
We would like to give our deepest thank yous to the Moruya Race Club staff for their amazing efforts with Blake and Beany, the rescue chopper staff and everyone at Canberra hospital.
Blake has many family and friends by his side. I’ll be forever grateful to Mitch Beer, Jimmy Innes Jnr and Tony Crisaf for travelling straight to the hospital for support and their efforts relaying news back to me.
I’m soon to board a boat from Nusa Lembongan to Denpasar and have managed to book a red eye home. I can’t wait to be by his side. The support that Blake has received from everyone online has been amazing. Blake would really appreciate it. He has a road ahead but is winning the battle. ❤️ 🙏🏽

You should build a "🚸 Coming Soon / Under Construction 🔜" Shopify app

Potential Earnings: anywhere from $2,000/mo to $3,000/mo after 24 months
What is it? An app that will add one additional page to your website to let your visitors know you're under maintenance/construction/etc. The app should direct every visitor to this page
Why build it: it only has 9 apps in this niche (!!!!!). Most suck. The highest reviewed only has 160 reviews (which you can get in a few months) and has gotten 10 reviews in the last month (proving there are customers for that app!). None of the 9 apps has 5/5 (lol.) . Honestly go for it before it's saturated (i believe there's room for 5 more apps)
What to do differently from what exists? Don't go below 5 stars. Make it "built for Shopify". Do whatever it takes to collect review. Check for all the wordpress plugins online and do whatever they do better than Shopify
