#sapsFS Members of the Sasolburg Public Order Policing (POP) Unit arrested a 39-year-old male suspect during a successful operation conducted in Tumahole on Thursday, 23 April 2026. Police recovered 21 mandrax tablets, ziplock bags containing crystal methamphetamine, and two live rounds of ammunition. What worries me about Manamela is not just what she is saying now. It is the fact that, by her own account, she was sitting with serious information while holding one of the top policing jobs in the province, and people are only getting the full story after her suspension. She is now speaking about interference in political cases, illegal mining, kidnappings, the disbanding of a serious-cases task team, and even the Jimmy Mohlala matter. But if she knew all of this while she still had the badge, the office and the authority, why was there no clear action then? And let us not pretend her suspension came out of nowhere. It followed allegations around gifts from police stations, abuse of power, maladministration, irregular promotions and other misconduct issues. That is why this does not read as bravery to me. It reads like someone who should never have held that office in the first place. A commissioner is not there to sit on rot and suddenly find a conscience once the suspension letter arrives.
