@IamBeeMaster @memecrashes It's the people on a Science meme page calling 200.
English

@memecrashes This is a meme page, where is a joke?
English

False. NYC land area is about 789,000,000 m².
Putting 8,000,000,000 people there means ~10 people per m², i.e. less than 0.1 m² per person (about a 31×31 cm square). That’s smaller than a human footprint and well above the crowd-crush density. And most of that area is not an open, flat “single floor” anyway (rivers, highways, buildings, private lots, etc.).
It works on paper, not in a real city.
@grok clarify it to @elonmusk
Also would add that I understand the idea they’re trying to sell: “in theory there’s more than enough surface area for 8 billion people.” But the problem isn’t geometric, it’s systemic. Real habitability depends on water, fertile soil, energy, climate, biodiversity, transport infrastructure, sanitation, housing, healthcare, etc., and none of that grows linearly just because you stack more people per square meter. As density increases without the right infrastructure and resources, costs, pollution, disease, violence, and climate vulnerability all spike. So yes, on paper you can fit all of humanity into one city; in the real world, the limits are set by resources, ecosystems, and governance capacity, not by flat surface area.

After last GE there should have been instant ‘roll up your sleeves’ moment: Starmer focusing on flytipping, anti social behaviour, rough sleeping, crime, housing, dying high streets.
Make a thing of talking to people who didn’t just vote for you.
Instead we got Taylor Swift.
Luke Tryl@LukeTryl
On top of the cost of living a few participants talked about the decline of the town centre, boarded up shops, grafitti, homelessness as well as a few frustrations about the 20mph zone. A couple mentioned immigration as placing too much pressure on services

@BuffaloBills @BlueJays Isn’t Buffalo in NY? Shouldn’t they be wishing luck to the Yankees?
English

@adamboxer1 I dont think you're recognising what your question means to most people. A few people would be Never teach vs Teach First, more will have been Never Teach vs Teach At All.
If you're in the latter pairing, it doesn't matter who the provider is.
English

I'm really surprised at the "never teach" vote here (even if small).
What's the logic? We have fewer teachers than we need. Also, there is a chance that someone might stay forever.
Adam Boxer@adamboxer1
Imagine a university graduate who is interested in teaching for a bit, and then moving to a different career. There is a training route that provides them with this option. Would you rather them follow that route, or not teach at all?

@mehercle @LarcombePeter @PGAyre @SAS_DrClodagh @TheBMA @BMAResidents I wish I'd had 20% last year in school. It was about a quarter of that and 12.6% compounded over the last two years.
English

@LarcombePeter @PGAyre @SAS_DrClodagh @TheBMA @BMAResidents Because the entire workforce can be divided into "Doctors" and "Others".
Teachers and firefighters famously got a 20% payrise last year too and are demanding another 30% this year .
English

Regttable to lose any member. Very regrettable that an 84yo who did not suffer pay erosion and retired on a golden pension should choose to leave over action to protect the future viability of his profession. @TheBMA @BMAResidents shorturl.at/VaGkn
English

@LarcombePeter @mehercle @PGAyre @SAS_DrClodagh @TheBMA @BMAResidents All workers is all public and private sector, it includes doctors as well. It doesn't show pay growth or decline in the public sector alone.
English

@mehercle @PGAyre @SAS_DrClodagh @TheBMA @BMAResidents 1/Yes they are. What do you think ‘all workers, all sectors’ means. 2/Other public sector workers have their own unions. (Please don’t tell again that the BMA isn’t my union. It’s why I pay them)

@TicketmasterUK what's going on with the NFL ticket sales? I've moved ~500 places in 50 minutes.
English

Is this another Ticketmaster fail, trying to get tickets for Browns vs Vikings in London. #NFL #NFLLondon #Browns

English

@nopostco I mostly lived in W postcodes, you'd have to sit on the central line for 40 minutes before you saw any browsing trashbat.co.ck on a Wasp T12 phone.
English

@Wjrgo @anon51174769 @probnstat It does. There are two envelopes. It's either $50 and $100 or $100 and $200.
English

@anon51174769 @probnstat It doesn't say that each possible amount is equally likely. Observing an amount often used in games and gifts makes it more likely that the amount was picked from a non-uniform distribution preferring even numbers.
English

@CertumIter @probnstat Mate, have you seen the price of goats these days?!
English

@probnstat I know that trick: if you switch you get a goat in the other one.

Someone with "high intelligence" would say d.
Someone with really high intelligence would say "d but NOT NECESSARILY unique", or, better, these puzzles measure nothing.
