Got interrupted by a patient today who said they were “ready to see the doctor now” and just responding “yes, I am your doctor, so as I was saying..” felt nice

So frustrated with @Banfield. Second time in 2 weeks I scheduled an appointment through the app, got a confirmation email, showed up with my dog, and was told he didn’t actually have an appointment. No apologies for the issues on their end either.

@UHC I have now been transferred incorrectly 7 different times. Asked to provide the same information again each time. This is by design meant to make it impossible for patients to get their medications

I have now been on hold with united healthcare appeals for 2 hours and have still not had a conversation with the correct person to complete the appeal. The denial? Insulin for a type 1 diabetic

@sleepykuriboh @useless_priest The better doctors I trained under are regularly reading new articles and consulting the newest guidelines for treatments and prevention. If your doctor isn’t, find a new one who will take better care of you and take your concerns seriously

@torimarro @jermrs @dremilyportermd It wasn't presented that way. There was no acknowledgement at any point that kids were not at risk, when anyone looking at the data was aware of that by April 2020. The ultimate crime was mandating vaccination for kids. It could only increase their risk.

@torimarro @jermrs @dremilyportermd Kids were kept out of school "to protect them". But the kids did not need protection. The science was clear on that. We did far more damage to kids by forcing them to go remote for extended periods than the risk they faced from COVID.

My oldest son got vaccinated and later was diagnosed with autism. My middle and youngest sons were vaccinated, and were not diagnosed with autism. The reason for this is that vaccines do not cause autism. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

@jermrs @dremilyportermd Sorry no. The science on COVID alone was clear that risk varied massively depending on age cohort. Healthy kids had almost literally zero risk. But it was taboo to discuss that. The actual science was ignored in favor of a politicized version of The Science.

When I was a third year medical student on a cardiology rotation, we had a quiet afternoon and I was chatting with one of the attendings. He told me that he had replaced another cardiology attending who had recently passed away. The new attending was terrified in taking up some of that cardiologist’s patients because he had worked at the hospital for decades, was always available even when on vacation, gave patients his home phone number, took extra call shifts, would sometimes come in the middle of the night even when he was off to look at scans and talk with his patients and teach the residents. The attending who took over couldn’t imagine how to tell these patients that this well respected cardiologist who had taken care of them for years and years was gone. And he said that he went into the first patient’s room to break the bad news, and the patient said, “that’s really sad. He was a great doctor and I liked him. So, anyway, this blood pressure medication. I feel dizzy on it…” The attending said that interaction changed him. He wanted from then on to be there for his patients and be a good physician - but also have his own life and free time. That brief conversation has stuck with me for decades now.

Our residents have taken on some insanely complex patients in clinic and I have consistently been so impressed by all of them. Truly a privilege to work with such kind, compassionate, intelligent people 💕
