Looking back at growing up in Palo Alto I now realize I basically won the lottery. I had no idea as a kid, but many of my peers would grow up to become leaders of industry. One of those kids is @tripadler. He @snowmaker and @tikhon built Scribd into the world’s largest publisher. Back then, @ycombinator S06 batch had just 11 companies, and people scoffed at the idea of building a startup at San Francisco. I jumped at the opportunity to support them but sadly didn't invest. Fast forward nearly two decades later when I met up with Trip for one of our regular check ins, he revealed to me his new company @createdbyhumans. I pretty much begged for an allocation. With AI reshaping everything we do, it’s clear that most foundation models rely on vast repositories of published works. Fair or not, artists deserve compensation. Who better to address this challenge than Trip, Jen, and Edward and the team at CBH. Today we announced an investment from Giant Ventures into the company alongside some true legends including @craft_ventures, @floodgatefund, @garrytan, @kvogt, @eshear, @iamcal, @drewhouston and many more.
