Was it for this that the US spent 80 years building power and alliances? Not to be a force for good. But instead to impoverish neighbours, threaten those it protected, rob minerals from war-torn countries, and break its promises to 100s of millions of the poorest in the world? 🧵

Shocked to read the story below about British chips made by XP Power being found in a North Korean missile fired by Russian military into Ukraine - with fatal consequences. Have written to Defence Minister @Vernon_Coaker. Ukraine Envoy @alexsobel has urgently written to the Government while @thecfhk President @MarkLClifford has written to the Chair of the Business and Trade Committee, @liambyrnemp, to enquire whether the committee would consider conducting an inquiry into the report’s findings. What is brilliant about how Monzo does it: - It only displays when there is a call happening - Cleary they wired up with customer support so if Monzo’s own customer support calls, it doesn’t show Examples of banks adding a persistent placeholder with a warning not the same :)

Now THIS is what a customer-centric app is. Most banks keep sending out warning emails about impersonation and scams. Any app can implement this capability with a little coding + backend work (assuming their BE sensible enough): and yet Monzo is the first one I’ve heard do it.
