@NickJFaleris I get that, and it's why I've been learning German. I was never asked to read any substantial latin source material. Nor asked to learn Greek or Persian. French or German would have unlocked substantial texts from enlightenment philosophers. So, it just feels pointless.

@NickJFaleris As someone who was required to take 4 years of Latin, info not believe it has served me well relative to other linguistic options. "It will help you learn other romance languages". You know what would have helped me learn Spanish better? 4 extra years of Spanish.

@NickJFaleris Or even require two modern languages. Still has the depth problem, but more likely to have some actual utility in life.
I generally find latin instruction to be a performative signal, and I suspect even many of the schools feel that way.
Old doesn't mean good.

@DSzymborski I work in a credit environment and not only is it sometimes difficult to understand why a customer score looks the way it doesn't other customers, it's even more perplexing to try and understand how our in house system scores the data in the credit report.

I tried this out and in my case, the AI decided that ZiPS *liked* the Hosmer contract because I said that ZiPS liked the Hosmer contract *better than the Kris Bryant contract*. AI needs to work on the concept of damning with faint praise.
