Tesla influencers are mad again because this time Rivian signed a deal with Uber. They did the same when Rivian signed a deal with VW.
The reason they are mad is because for years Elon promised them these things. Everyone was going to license software and FSD from Tesla. Fast forward to today and Rivian is doing exactly that.
I would be angry too if 15 years of promise and no deals while the underdog is executing.

Rivian posted a gross loss of $10,216 per vehicle delivered in 2025, and a net loss of $85,753 per vehicle.
Can they cut $30,000 of cost out with the R2 platform? If they work hard they might have a shot at pulling it off but they will need to show a lot more discipline in their fixed costs as well.
So far I'm not seeing any signs of discipline. Instead, they're investing like crazy. That works as long as they're able to raise more capital. RJ is going to need to be sleeping at the factory in Illinois and telling employees across the company to tighten their belts if they want to get through this without becoming a subsidiary of Volkswagen.

@garrettblizzard @wholemars He doesn’t know what it means. It’s a meaningless metric. The fixed costs of the factory were spread over only 43,000 deliveries. When R2 launched and deliveries jump to 200k that same cost will decline by 75% per vehicle.

Yea I don’t care, so few people have rivians right now that surveys like this are going to be weighted heavily negative (and it’s likely well deserved) because there are issues with cars and there few cars, which means a high % have issues even if it’s unlikely to happen for new ones

If you’re a Tesla fanboy, watching reviews of this vehicle is like listening to Vampire Weekend. You badly want to hate it, but you can’t help but find yourself singing along and hating yourself for it. It’s fun to troll Rivian fans because it’s so easy (and us Tesla fans get pummeled constantly), but the game here is undeniable. Exciting that the US market is about to have another attractive, pure EV from a company interested in developing technology. Competition rules. And this thing looks sick.

@actuallyajoke @DavidMoss The current stack will perform hands off point to point autonomy which less than 15% of Tesla owners even subscribe to. The next Rivian stack is for eyes off which is only available via Waymo currently.

@DavidMoss I don’t understand why they’re doing this to their first buyers. Like, not only will you pay a higher price for the Launch Edition but you’re probably going to have deal with early build issues and the missing (and not retrofittable) autonomy hardware

No idea!! I can’t even consider buying another car, electric or not, cause of FSD. Tesla FSD really is the number ONE feature to look for in a car. People have no idea! Seems like even many @Tesla owners don’t have an idea either 🤷🏽♂️. Something needs to change. $tsla
