@danielmgmoylan The Driver couldn’t wait the 5 seconds behind the cyclist to turn into station? That’s what normal people do. Would the Merc driver do that to a bus? A lorry? Absolutely not, so why do it to a cyclist?

@UKCycleChat It’s a really tricky one. A helmets benefit unfortunately depends on the type of accident. My son had a nasty, he ended up with over 100 stiches in his face, largely from the helmet band and straps. However, the helmet prevented his brains from being ejected on the road…

The Irish Government is planning new road-safety rules that would make wearing a helmet mandatory for cyclists, including people using e-bikes. Although no start date is confirmed. Is this a sensible approach? #ukcyclechat

Packaging up the first batch of sales of Eat Sleep Cycle now that the inserts in memory of Tim have arrived. If you want to buy a copy of the book, you can order it here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI… This is how I met Tim in the first place, because he read my book 🩵

@johnbrace @SaferRoadsYorks For starters cyclists know that no one pays road tax. Cyclists know that there are 000’s of motorists without insurance every day. 000’s of Cyclists have voluntarily purchased insurance to ride their bikes.

@SaferRoadsYorks Cyclists need to stop blaming motorists and take ownership for their often very poor actions. Cyclists pay no road tax, have no insurance yet demand every privilege. So many cyclists continue to play the victim. Most cyclists also drive so how many fail their own standards?

This Mondeo driver will soon find out you must leave at least 1.5m of space even if a cyclist is in a bike lane. Because they were well over 30mph, it should be more. A Notice of Intended Prosecution for driving without due care and consideration will be on it's way.

@but_cyclists @scrubbedlaunch What makes sense is if your want your own private lanes then pay to use them . No qualms about them using the roads that are already there for everyone .

Why design cycle lanes like this? Sooner or later, someone will be squished. :( @KingstonCycling

Now that is how a responsible company deals with their driver caught using the phone. I've pinned the comment and I have respect for this approach.

Question. Is a heavy sugar intake ok to your body if you burn it off by exercise?

Craig from Devonshire 🚴‍♂️👋
I've been doing some calculations this morning. As I've already done the TOB tour and done 852.5km, by the time I've done this ride as well, by the end of Sept, I'll have done over 1,400km. That's a massive 30% of what I've already achieved since Jan 1st this year 🤯 #cycling

@michaelgovan17 @Bikery1966 Cars or in fact the drivers of any vehicle don’t pay road tax. They haven’t since 1937, what some drivers perceive as road tax is in fact Vehicle Tax. A tax based on the emissions of that vehicle, 000’s of drivers pay £0. Just like these “bike wankers” you talk of.

@Bikery1966 You bike wankers aren't helping your cause by reporting every car that comes within six feet of you. Cars pay road tax, you do not. Cars stop at traffic lights, not many cyclists do.

The police are taking further action against the driver of this Mazda CX-3 for close passing a cyclist. His reasoning you were in the middle of the road” I wasn’t even in the middle of lane!
