The @UN family & I mourn the passing of Ted Turner – founder of the @unfoundation & a visionary whose conviction, generosity & audacious spirit left a lasting imprint on the UN & our world. My deepest condolences to his family & loved ones. His legacy endures – as we keep striving for a better world for all.

This year's Secretary-General selection process will be the most consequential in @UN history. Following last week's series of interactive dialogues with the race's four candidates, here are my thoughts on why this process is so important and what comes next:

At @UNAUSA's Global Engagement Summit, UNHCR's Fern Tilakamonkul spoke about @Refugees frontline work across the world, and how the international community can support those forced to flee through continued humanitarian funding, identifying solutions and fostering inclusion.

"Burden sharing is a key component of an America First approach." The @UN-backed @GSForceHaiti is the perfect example of how the US can support interventions to spur peace, all without having American boots on the ground. Hear it from @USAmbUN @michaelgwaltz:

The fact that @USAmbUN and @AmbUNReform were able to cut the @UN budget by $570 million speaks volumes about the Trump Administration and its commitment to the American people. I'm glad both ambassadors spoke before the committee today about their efforts to reform the UN.
