ایک صدیوں پرانا درخت دیکھا تقریباً 800 سال قدیم بریڈگیٹ پارک میں۔۔۔ کمزور اور بوڑھا ہونے کے باوجود کاٹا نہیں گیا، بلکہ اسے سہارا دینے کے لیے مضبوط ڈھانچہ بنایا گیا تاکہ وہ مزید عرصہ کھڑا رہے اور زندہ رہ سکے۔ دوسری طرف نیچی ٹویٹ میں دیکھا جا سکتا ہے اسلام آباد مارگلہ روڈ پر دن دہاڑے پرانا درخت کاٹا جا رہا ہے۔ ذرا سوچیں، کہ کیسے برطانیہ میں پرانے درخت بوجھ نہیں سمجھے جاتے، بلکہ تاریخ، ورثہ اور شناخت کا حصہ ہوتے ہیں۔ اور دوسری طرف Pakistan میں ہم درختوں کو کتنی بے دردی سے کاٹ دیتے ہیں۔ نہ کوئی افسوس،
نہ کوئی متبادل،
نہ کوئی احساس کہ ہم کیا کھو رہے ہیں۔ جو درخت دہائیوں یا صدیوں میں پروان چڑھتے ہیں، وہ چند منٹوں میں ختم کر دیے جاتے ہیں۔کبھی ترقی کے نام پر، کبھی سہولت اور مافادات کے لیے، اور کبھی صرف لاپرواہی کی وجہ سے۔ یہ فرق صرف رویے کا نہیں، سوچ کا ہے۔ ہم صرف درخت نہیں کاٹ رہے۔ ہم سایہ، ماحول، خوبصورتی اور اپنی پہچان بھی کھو رہے ہیں۔ شاید وقت آ گیا ہے کہ ہم ترقی کی تعریف دوبارہ کریں کیونکہ وہ معاشرہ ہی اصل میں ترقی یافتہ ہوتا ہے جو اپنی جڑوں کی حفاظت کرنا جانتا ہو۔

Criticism against the civil service is on the rise. Every delay, every failure, every unpopular decision finds an easy target. But this pattern is not new. Christopher Hood called it “blame avoidance”. In modern governance, authority is diffused across layers, but visibility is concentrated at the point of delivery. So blame settles where the public can see it. On the civil servant. The interesting part is how different systems have responded. The UK tried to deal with it by clarifying accountability, making ministers answerable for policy while protecting the neutrality of the civil service. Singapore took a different route. It built a culture of trust, competence and shared ownership between political leadership and public officials, so that success and failure are not selectively assigned. The lesson is simple. When responsibility is blurred, blame becomes personal. And when blame becomes personal, the system quietly shifts its burden onto those who are most visible.

Thats natural resentment building up. And it isnt that these stories are without truth - this unfortunately has been the culture of Pakistan since ever. Public is being crushed by inflation so this resentment for the elite will grow and it seems organic to me. Questioning and holding govt servants/public office holders accountable is a democratic norm in any normal democracy and for us it should be even more imp as its a teaching of an Islamic state too (recall Hazrat Umar R.A’s waqia).

This country is a joke, a supreme court judge gave an unfair ruling that affected someone close to me, and even in the review, it’s going to be the same judge reviewing. Bs. Judiciary is a joke. How do these people sleep at night knowing they destroyed someone’s entire earnings

The world should bookmark and remember this moment, a statement from the US Secretary of State openly acknowledging the punishment of two adult women, not for who they are or for any wrongdoing of their own, but simply because of who they are related to. This alone exposes the hypocrisy and double standards at play. So the final verdict from session court of Meesha Shafi vs Ali Zafar defamation case came out.I was not only a primary character witness, I knew both families and both children very closely. If I took a side, it was with 100% certainty and belief. For me, Meesha Shafi’s issue ended the day every girl who supported her — including me — was dragged into criminal cases. I was told I could face three years in prison. And if that happens, I will go and serve those three years, because I do not step back from my truth — and anyone who knows me, knows this. People were silenced, pressured, bought, and scared. The entire support system was broken. On top of that, we were accused of running a foreign agenda, of being paid huge amounts in dollars. I said it then, and I say it again — prove it in court. I am ready to open all my bank accounts, everything. The truth is, every woman knows that at some point in her life, she has been physically harassed. Sometimes in a room full of people, someone touches you in a way you cannot even process, and you cannot even speak. We have all gone through this — as children, as young women, and even today. So when a star of this magnitude, who needed no fame, who comes from a respected family, speaks up — is it for fame? Is it some personal enmity? What did she gain from this case? What did we gain except abuse, lies, and humiliation? We did not step back because we knew that if we lost this case, then every woman who suffers this every day would lose with us. And from that day on, no woman in this country would ever be believed. The entire Lahore, the entire industry knows the truth. This is not Meesha Shafi’s loss, or Saba Hameed’s, or Iffat Omar’s. And this five million penalty — we can pay it right now. It’s not about that. It’s about the fact that women will continue to be touched inappropriately, even when married, even by men who are “friends” of their husbands. We all know this is the reality of a man’s world. From today onwards, even I will not believe a woman in Pakistan — because surely, the man must be right. And my honorable courts, thank you for proving this. It’s a man’s world. Goodbye.

Mr Gill I wish you had kept notes too to remind yourself when you interviewed me for your pathetic YouTube channel & spoke about army’s extraction in Baluchistan and how corrupt they were. Then u had some personal property issue with the army. I don’t have business issues with the army just a scholar whose business it is to keep notes & not be intellectually or financially corrupt which is your case. U left the country after corruption allegations or is it too much for a phupho to remember?
