I love it: PRC hasn’t even invaded yet, and Trump is already saying Taiwan has itself to blame for wanting democratic freedom and independence from such a “very very powerful big country.” Oh, and Taiwan apparently stole something from him again, so Emperor Xi should just go ahead and take the world’s premier microchip manufacturing hub.

His strategy is preemptive surrender. We saw it when he crippled Ukraine’s leverage by cutting weapons and demanding concessions before negotiations with Russia even started. Now, he's applying that same disastrous blueprint to Taiwan. It’s a masterclass in weakness 😑

In the last 72 hours, Taiwan has gotten a heavy dose of the reality that Ukraine, Poland, Denmark and others have seen up close and personal. Just because you have been an ally for decades through admins of both parties, the US is not your friend as long as Trump is president.

Monstrous behavior by ICE and Alabama police, who blamed a Honduran mother for "abandoning" her child when they arrested & deported her without him. The son, Orlin, a US citizen, was then murdered by abusive relative and Trump admin wont let her return to bury him. Nightmarish.

The United States are abandoning another ally: “We will not defend Taiwan, and we are halting weapons deliveries to the island because they themselves want to start a war against China,” Trump. This exactly the same rhetoric Trump used against Ukraine: “You don’t start a war against somebody that’s 20 times your size, and then hope that people give you some missiles.”

Real story: Judge was about to throw out the case bc Trump controls both parties. Before it’s dismissed, Trump tells both parties to reach a “settlement.” Settlement shields Trump from any future audit and creates a secret slush fund that can dole out money to anyone with no transparency. Mind-boggling corruption. @SpeakerJohnson - you may not know it, but your job is to conduct oversight of the admin. You can’t run away from this one.
