91 years ago today, a small group of conservationists gathered around a radical idea: protecting wild places for their own sake. Since 1935, The Wilderness Society has been a national conservation organization dedicated to protecting America’s wild places.

What gives me hope is the breadth of the coalition that came together last year to stop the public lands sell-off. People across the spectrum came together and stepped up.

Trump just trying to revoke a decade-old rule that protected tens of millions of acres of national forest land –– leaving California’s precious public lands vulnerable to unrestricted logging and construction.    We’re fighting back.

People across the West cherish our public lands. For 25 years, the Roadless Rule has protected millions of acres of our forests. In the face of Trump’s efforts to repeal this rule and sell our public lands, we’ll always keep fighting to protect these lands for future generations.

America’s Roadless Rule turns 25 today. For a quarter of a century, this effective & widely supported conservation policy has served the American people by protecting 58 million acres of pristine national forestland. We must allow these forests to remain wild and free.

Chaco Canyon is sacred ground. When President Biden protected the Greater Chaco Landscape, it was a historic step that honored tribal voices and safeguarded thousands of irreplaceable cultural sites. Efforts now underway to roll back protections threaten irreplaceable history. We must continue protecting #ChacoCanyon and stand with tribal leaders calling for its preservation.

The president approved a 211-mile private industrial mining road for a foreign mining company - backed by millions in U.S. taxpayer dollars - cutting through one of Alaska's most pristine landscapes. Alaska Native governments & locals have said no to Ambler Road — and so do we.

Chaco Canyon is a living landscape — a sacred homeland still tied to the ceremonial and religious lives of Indigenous communities today. That’s why I introduced the Chaco Cultural Heritage Area Protection Act, which would permanently protect this sacred place by withdrawing federal lands around Chaco from new oil and gas leasing while safeguarding Navajo and tribal mineral rights.
