@roboluvsunicorn @Harri18971 @willsweird @MilanoTruffles How do comatose people vote? Handling incapable people wasn't described in the reddit poll he took it from, nor his, nor Beast's. He clearly just hadn't considered it yet b/c "everyone votes" creates a contradiction: some can't. Flipping a coin isn't a vote on their behalf.

@OleMissStan @Gunhildr_pics The real truth this question reveals is just how many stubborn sociopaths there are who vastly overestimate their own intelligence. The wording is a trap to catch low empathy individuals who would rather gamble other people's lives than ask for clarification.

@Gunhildr_pics The people bringing up babies subconsciously know that they can't rely on the majority of the world to vote their way so they have to guilt trip the rational actors into gambling with their lives.

I find the red button Blue button discourse amazingly stupid. It's framed as a morality question, when it isn't. Pressing the blue button does not save anyone but cause the dilemma in the first place. There is no person who 'accidentally' pressed the blue button.

@markiplier A short film where "The Buttons" appear in front of 3 doctors in the break room. They angrily debate and 2 chose red. Camera then travels hospital, showing buttons in front of everyone... including coma patient and/or paralyzed person. Final shot holds on nursery.

@BigRichard46 @HDArrowsmith @cinnamontoastk It doesn't take much to change the wording of the hypothetical, but no one ever bothers. I do actually think it COULD have value as-is, though. It's a cautionary tale about acting on assumptions without considering the consequences. Unless The Twilight Zone already did it.

@willsweird @HDArrowsmith @cinnamontoastk Frankly the whole scenario is undercooked if pairs of buttons are being presented to anyone who is incapable of being a moral actor. Might as well stick some of those buttons in a pinball machine.

This red button/blue button discourse is wild. 100% red saves everyone no consequence 51% of blue saves everyone no consequence 51% red kills all of blue but they frame it like its blues fault they had to kill them even though red is the only choice that causes anyone to die.

@Stigma9Alpha @MilanoTruffles Red-pushers tossin R slurs around is the hardest projection. "Everyone push the red button" is fucking stupid because "everyone" includes people who physically can't push a button. You never asked for clarification. Just hit red, now all babies are dead. 👏👏 Well played.

@MilanoTruffles It is collectivist propaganda disguised as a hypothetical. It is designed to demoralize you regardless of what you choose. You either choose blue and think all the red people are literal psychos, or choose red and think all the blue choosers are retarded.

@willsweird @HDArrowsmith @cinnamontoastk Oh, that's what you meant. Man that would have been easier if you weren't being cagey the whole time. Yeah, I'll grant you that I considered it common sense not to include infant participants in a moral dilemma about making life-or-death decisions.

@willsweird @HDArrowsmith @cinnamontoastk That's actually even easier than addressing "babies are too dumb to not press the blue button." If they don't even physically press the button, they're not in the group of blue button pressers. So they wouldn't die. Because they never entered the category marked for death.

@willsweird @HDArrowsmith @cinnamontoastk Your buddy over there threw out a block over this, while I continue to converse with people who hurl every insult they've got at me. This "u mad" angle isn't working for you. You should just make your point simply without trying to be clever or biting about it.

@willsweird @HDArrowsmith @cinnamontoastk I actually thought your post was pro-red, because the part about dead babies appeared to be dripping with sarcasm. You would have an easier time being understood, and not have to repeat yourself, if you didn't bend over backwards trying to write the cleverest post possible.

@ReasonUnchains @SDSansing @terraeyesCGNU @cinnamontoastk Well, yeah. Most people are answering under the idea that everyone participating is able to understand the terms. When you throw in that every baby on the planet will die automatically if red wins because they couldn't press a button, very few people will choose red.

@HDArrowsmith @willsweird @cinnamontoastk No, that's not baffling at all. It's not a hard question. It quite literally boils down to "press this button to not die." The other button contains emotionally manipulative language to make you feel like you're saving people, but it does not compare to the "not die" button.

@BigRichard46 @HDArrowsmith @cinnamontoastk The question is never worded in a way where red voters aren't smug accidental genocidists. "Everybody push the red button" fails because "everybody" includes people who are physically incapable of pushing buttons. You never asked for clarification, now all babies are dead.

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.
