The scale of this engineering is terrifying. 🤯 People don't realize this thing is alive. It looks abandoned. It looks frozen. It looks forgotten. It is none of those things. The Kalyazin RT-64 is a 64-meter Soviet radio telescope, hidden in a Russian forest, still listening to deep space. To pulsars. To dying stars. To spacecraft drifting between planets.

Funnily enough, as a human with actual time blindness, I also have to check the clock repeatedly. I have clocks everywhere and I have to constantly track my progress, otherwise I will accidentally lose hrs. I wonder what progress meter the ai is attaching to the concept of time
huangserva@servasyy_ai

Red and blue button pushers: who's smarter? In a mostly-subscriber sample who took a brief verbal IQ test, the answer is... Blue pushers! If the whole population has an IQ of 100 with an SD of 15, their mean IQ would be 101.9, versus 97.0 for reds.

@marioliveirain I was able to catch my mother falling off a ladder and prevented her from possibly breaking her neck. At the time I was working out with 25lb hand weights and doing a mostly core mobility exercises. Even that little put me in a good position to keep us both from injury

@mapledonutboy @justsosooknow Ppl like to post that they went to places or events w/ a check in post. So there's often locations there that become useful photo spots. A friend went to a concert in China and helped me check in by taking a photo of my twitter profile next to a cardboard cutout of the singer

Doing graphic design for a fanclub in China is hilarious because they're either telling me to go to bed in the 2 hrs our schedules overlap, or they're like "How do I explain Wei style writing to you? " Anyway I found a font calling itself northern wei. Hope it's accurate

People mentioned COVID being related to this and I 100% believe it. I experienced prolonged mast cell activation and histamine intolerance after getting COVID once. This has also affected a lot of my friends and some of my clients. If you already were prone to allergies, it could affect you. The infection can intensify pre-existing issues with mast cells, and lead to symptoms like hives, itching, dizziness, chronic fatigue, brain fog, and diarrhea or nausea. If you are someone who has had allergies and immune dysfunction already, it's more likely to occur. I noticed mast cell and allergy issues intensify when I would throw up from eating histamine-rich foods, like smoked meats or canned foods. I also started to get hay fever, waking up with a stuffy nose and brain fog, when I had never had it in my life. This continued for around two months after the infection, and I was able to stop the symptoms through herbal and antihistaminic interventions. Post-viral immune dysfunction is pretty common. But with COVID, it seems quite severe as it pertains to allergies and histamine responses. I think it can be related to the fact that mast cells are located at the lung mucosa and express ACE2. The spike proteins bind here and cause rapid mast cell degranulation (mast cells release histamine and cause allergic symptoms when activated). Biopsies of COVID patients show evidence of very significant mast cell activation in the lungs. We have also been able to detect viral RNA and T cell activation in the lungs, even up to 2 years after infection. It appears that the lung mast cells can act as a reservoir for persistent inflammatory reactions. While the virus is undetectable in the other parts of the body and in the upper respiratory tract, it hides in lung tissues and alveolar macrophages and intensifies inflammation in the respiratory system.

@CarlZha @Molson_Hart The east coast version of this blended w/cantonese, Vietnamese and hmong. But I think a lot of it died down when the Asian gang scene was cracked down on in early 2000s. It still exists in pockets, in NYC and in the south, tho

@mandarinbj @EzSpeakMandarin My issue is knowing conversational cantonese and some trad hanji already while learning mandarin l/simplified with Eng as the start point. My brain won't let me isolate to just mandarin so now I have to learn to read in both cantonese and mandarin AND translate backwards to Eng

Interesting❤️, but I’ve actually felt the opposite sometimes, Chinese looks scary, but it becomes logical. Like 电脑 = “electric brain” = computer. That’s weirdly cute and useful 😭 The hard part is when tones turn one word into a whole plot twist. What’s hardest for you: tones, characters, or grammar?😇

Chinese is actually so hard 😭 sometimes I really wonder if it’s one of the hardest languages to learn. English feels way easier to me, but then I see Chinese calligraphy and I’m like… okay, this language is too beautiful to give up on. #learnMandarin #langtwt

People who push the red button are the same kind of people who would hide they were bit by a zombie. Not exactly, but It's selfish preservation that condemns others to die for no reason if they successfully hide it. Its a direct choice to that. Blue means NOBODY loses. It goes to show how so many people would gladly pick something that benefits themselves at the loss of others over the SAME benefit to everyone, including themselves. For many reasons, distrust your fellow man will make the same choice, "I got mine" mentality, or just instinctual self preservation, etc.. Its a social morality experiment, there is no "right answer" but what you pick says alot about you.

Tbh if there's really a being that will put this binary bullshit test to a planet of ppl and is powerful enough to enforce it. How likely are the red button pushers to not end up killed in some creative way afterwards? Just for fun?
+ MachDominus +@MachDominus

I see some people have misinterpreted the losing part as "red button pushers lose even if they have the required percentage", instead of "the red button lost every time the poll was taken on a large enough sample of people" Really makes you think.

This is just going to become another way production companies and platforms can hold artists hostage and refuse to cast people who are talented but don't have traffic or connections
ForCdrama@ForCdrama

🍉 Actors pay for dramas is being adjusted now. A-listers roughly 20% pay cut and non A-listers 20% or more pay cut, though it varies. They’ll no longer receive their full payment upfront. Final pay will be given after the drama airs and will depend on how well it performs.

@jokieliu Also models used in fashion editorials and runway modeling are specifically selected bc they have something otherworldly or unusual with their looks that draws the eye. This model is not meant to be representative of anything but the photographer's artistic vision
