I love how those “tech” accounts post nonsense shit in security topic without having the slightest idea who Zellic and cts are.
The Lunduke Journal@LundukeJournal

Remember the security firm that Ubuntu hired to audit the (ill-advised, highly buggy) Rust-rewrites of all of the GNU Coreutils? Turns out that security firm is run by @gf_256, who: - Appears to be a man who thinks he's a woman ("trans"). - Uses an anime cartoon of a girl as his avatar. - Appears to have an OnlyFans page. I repeat: Ubuntu hired a "Trans" man, with an anime girl avatar and an OnlyFans page... to audit Rust code. It's hard to get more on-the-nose than that.

your product is critical to a lot of applications and you have this sort of response? you need to wake up, stop acting like a spoiled 3 year old child, shoulder the responsibility you have to fix the issues that exist. whether you wanted that responsibility or not, you have it because your product is so integral to so many things if you don't want that, sell the product to someone that will take that responsibility seriously
FFmpeg@FFmpeg

We get this a lot and it's a non-sequitur. Many people run marathons or 10Ks or have hobbies which don't pay the bills but consume a considerable amount of time. But it gives them a sense of achievement and being part of something bigger.

Hey @grok, is this post (in the screenshot) a violation of @X rules? Is saying “I’ll beat the sh*t out of you you f**king nerd” considered violent or hateful speech?

A nanometer is a unit of wavelength. A thousand nanometers is infrared, not green. A thousand milliwatts is a Watt. A Watt is a unit of Energy per unit time. Do not wave one-Watt lasers around in public places, you stupid motherfuckers.
Jason Bassler@JasonBassler1

⚠️ Definitely DO NOT point a 1000nm wavelength green laser at Flock cameras. It totally won't damage the sensor and render the camera ineffective. So please don't consider it, okay?

@LundukeJournal @vxunderground @gf_256 >security audit >done by extremely qualified security person >"has nothing to do with the topic at hand" ah yes because *your* topic is ideology, not anything technical. so please, for the love of everything, stop larping as a technical reporter

Just want to make sure I'm reading this right: Microsoft rewrote the run dialog with performance "top-of-mind", and the best they could manage to do when putting up a single text box was 10fps?

@stephenofnum "I didn’t wanna do all that for free"? don't fucking have kids then? it would not surprise me in the slightest if this dude tells his kid to get screwed on student loans instead of paying towards college

@stephenofnum also honestly which asshole charges their kid $300 (~20% APY equivalent) for "consulting"??? (x.com/Brandondoyle/s…) especially for something as ridiculous as selling used rugs to suckers on facebook marketplace. it is literally your duty as a parent to teach your kids
Brandon Doyle@Brandondoyle

@analogreset It was more a one-time catch-all charge to teach him how loans work, rental space on the barn, usage of my FB account to sell the rugs on Marktplace, and some “consulting” assistance. I didn’t wanna do all that for free and have him feel like I did a lot of the work.

I want to crap all over this guy with everyone else. But I can’t figure out whats wrong with it. To me it’s a well taken care of boy; fed, dressed, homed and his dad helped with a project to learn useful skills to buy a vehicle.
Brandon Doyle@Brandondoyle

This is my son. He is almost 16 and wants a vehicle. I refuse to buy him one and told him he needs to pay for it himself. He got a job as a rec basketball league referee and quickly realized how long it would take to save up enough money to get a $3k car making $12/hour. Then I showed him some cooler $6k options on Bring a Trailer and he got the itch to make more money. I gave him countless ideas to pursue. He wasn't feeling any of them. Then I decided to show him some podcast episodes from @mhp_guy (he's listened to some from Chris before and was a fan). No ideas were really hitting home until he heard an episode between Chris and @ShannonJean about reselling. He fell in love. So I showed him a few more and he was convinced that that was the route he should take. We started browsing B-Stock and then realized we need a state tax license and some other stuff so we got that all set up. Then we browsed some more. Endless deals. We settled on buying 115 rugs at an average of $13/rug after shipping. They're all Costco returns. Various sizes, some in better condition than others. He now has to figure out how to sell all these through my Facebook Marketplace account. I won't be helping him at all, other than answering questions and casually giving him strategic ideas here and there. If he can sell the rugs at an average price of $35 (keep in mind some are brand new and are 10' x 14' large), he'll make $2500 in profit. Then we can start car shopping :). P.S. Chris and Shannon - thanks for the motivation!!!

@stephenofnum it's kinda funny because back when affirmative action was still widely used for admissions, Asians were pretty strongly discriminated against, so they had to compete even harder within their own "group" to actually get anywhere

@wlp3s0 I think the issue is that I’m stuck in the 90s-early2000 when I was in school. It sounds like the landscape has changed drastically. We weren’t competing against Indians and Chinese for college spots.

@stephenofnum there's also many cases of parents doing the kid's homework (especially busy-work) so they can spend more time doing music, sports, academic clubs, volunteer clubs, etc

@stephenofnum it is extremely common especially among hyper-competitive Asian households. even if it's not completely a ghostwriter, very likely there's someone hired to revise the student's essay. this is on top of hired tutors for test prep and sometimes even expensive "counselors"
