@TheBlackHorse65 @HiRiskTolerance @jonharris1989 People have no idea. I’m half Polish, and when I was 9 years old my Polish grandfather pulled me close and said “remember, my dear grandson, whatever you do in life, wherever you go, never, ever trust or underestimate the Russians.” Most full-blooded Anglos can’t comprehend.

@TheBlackHorse65 @JimmyThomist @JackRedOaks 1. Poor ground infrastructure & large country makes a large helicopter fleet essential for Russian logistics. 2. Russian obsession with close air support. 3. Russian obsession with the VDV. They see the VDV much as Americans see the Marines.

Coupling is falling fastest amongst the least educated. Great column today by @mattyglesias, I'd also flag this graph by @jburnmurdoch. As I have written, people are raising their standards, and only couple up when it's more rewarding than alternatives. So those with a less attractive package get ghosted and ignored. (1/2)

Canadians have a choice. NDP = Palestinian flag. Liberals = China flag. If you want to fly & support the Canada flag, you best vote Conservative. 🇨🇦

There’s a weird secret romance going on between Quebec and British Columbia. They import and export each other’s libtards in universities and I was suprised to meet francophone tourists in the middle of nowhere the last time I was in Western Canada.

@zaradeptus Then my guess would be you’re probably quite bad at it, especially if you’re not frequently speaking it to people who you need to communicate with in your daily life.

Everything about official bilingualism in Canada is built on myth. People can’t “just learn” a language they don’t need. Canada isn’t “built on” two equally-sized language groups. Bilingualism isn’t “necessary” to function at an elite level. It’s all just Laurentian folklore.

@TheBlackHorse65 In a biethnic state however the elite should be bilingual, even if the two solitudes can largely remain monolingual (although most of French Canada is hardly de facto a monolingual zone)

One of my most unorthodox takes is that, for the good of French Canadians, Canada should exist in primarily monolingual zones. With services, signage, etc... exclusively provided in French or English everywhere outside a narrow region from Montreal to Ottawa.

@JJ_McCullough We shouldn't get rid of bilingualism, we should embrace it more fully.

@JJ_McCullough French. I’m in Alberta and I had to make serious effort to learn it. Admittedly I did move to Quebec for a year to “finish it off”, but again, I choose to sacrifice a year to do that. There was absolutely no need.

The notion that any modern Western country is a 'patriarchy' is hilarious.

“Free Speech” in Canada means being summoned to a committee because you neglected to make an announcement in French. The independent country of Alberta will have ONE official language.

PM Mark Carney on Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau delivering a video address only in English: "I'm very disappointed, as others are, rightly so, in this unilingual message of the CEO...lack of judgement and a lack of compassion."

You and premier ford support the mass migration that brings these foreigners here, that do these crimes in the first place. The real tragedy for your daughter is having a snake for a mother that has sold out her inheritance of getting to live in a safe high trust society so big business and the plutocrats of downtown toronto can continue to pillage our communities unmolested. Mass Migration is class warfare and once again the NDP has sided with the bourgeoise class while virtue signaling their progressivism. You are class traitors.

If Canada was to be saved, what do you, dear reader, think it would look like? Personally, I see no path for what was Canada to return. This new, rotting corpse, must die. Something new may be born, but we cannot go back to what was. The Canada you knew is dead.

The Hereditary Principle is the foundation of the Right. If you do not believe in it, you are a Leftist, no matter how fervently you may preach other talking points. You are your father's son. You should inherit his assets, customs and position in society.
Alex - That Steam Guy@a2_masters

They've kicked the Lords out of the upper house because they don't believe in the hereditary principle. This extends to you by the way. They reject our ties of blood to these lands. It has no meaning to them. They will take your beautiful oak door and burn it to ashes.

The logical endpoint of the modern fixation with abstract equality and the systemic dismantling of hereditary privilege is the erasure of all meaningful distinctions and inherited prejudices (in the Burkean sense), yielding an undifferentiated mass of rootless individuals.
Richard Bastable@rmbastable

The erosion of the hereditary principle is dangerous to our finely-evolved constitutional settlement. The message of “you can inherit nothing ” is dark, sinister and inhuman. It may be a few Lords now, it’ll be the crown and your parents’ home next.

@JamesDueck This is the best argument for Alberta separatism, but if you talk to most Alberta separatists they have no sense of this; they tend to just be libertarians who think Canada’s raison d’être was a mistake. No wish to preserve Canadian traditions, identity or history.
