On Dec. 11, 2025, Solicitor General Noah Purcell who works for @AGOWA Nick Brown noted in an e-mail to Sen. Majority Leader Jamie Pedersen, the author of the unconstitutional income state tax: "I did not see an emergency clause. Without one, someone could subject the bill to a referendum." (See e-mail. Paragraph 7.) A few weeks prior on Oct. 20, 2025, the same Noah Purcell writes a letter to @GovBobFerguson recommending newly appointed WA State Supreme Court Justice Colleen Melody. Soon, Melody will be ruling on the income tax case that the AG's Office will be defending. The same office that recommended her to the gov. Melody should RECUSE herself before the case begins—things are too close for comfort. There has been 100 years of precedence that has said its unconstitutional. We've had 11 different votes of the people that have said we don't want an income tax. The Legislature 2 years ago voted to ban state and local income taxes. Then this year, they passed an income tax and placed an emergency clause on it so voters can't vote on it with a referendum."
