Meet “Kit”. The Firefox Web browser’s new, non-binary mascot. Yes. You read that right. Non-binary. With “They/Them” pronouns. Because, of course @Mozilla had to inject “pronouns”, and “gender identity” politics into a web browser.

@IntCyberDigest What purpose is there to store notification data for up to a month. This seems like either a very big missed flaw or a backdoor left on purpose. I don’t think this is even turned off with lockdown mode enabled.

🚨 BREAKING: The FBI has successfully extracted deleted Signal messages from a suspect's iPhone via notification storage, the place where all your notifications are stored for up to one month. Notification storage stores data from all messaging apps, it's a big flaw in iOS. But there's a way to turn it off...

@shanselman Ok fair enough, but my point is it just seems slow and bureaucratic. What if a zero day was detected in the WireGuard protocol and they had no way to update anything for Windows users. That would’ve affected you and a lot of other people. Something that should be thought about.

Hey I love dumping on my company as much as the next guy, because Microsoft does some dumb stuff, but sometimes it's just check emails and verify your accounts. Not every "WTF micro$oft" moment is a slam dunk. I've emailed VeraCrypt personally and we'll get him unblocked. I've already talked to Jason at WireGuard. Not everything is a conspiracy, sometimes it's literally paperwork.
CR1337@CR1337

Just Microsoft things... Recently they terminated the VeraCrypt developer's Microsoft account. VeraCrypt is a free and open-source disk encryption software that performs on-the-fly encryption (OTFE) to create virtual encrypted disks, encrypt partitions, or secure entire storage devices.

@Grummz This seems like a supply chain attack on Microsoft’s backend and targeting of open source & security applications. Same thing has just happened to @windscribecom

@windscribecom @Microsoft There’s no way this is coincidental. This is starting to look like someone found an exploit in Microsoft’s backend for this and is targeting open source & security applications on Windows.

It appears @Microsoft is actively suspending developer accounts with no warning or reason of various security tools like VeraCrypt, WireGuard and also Windscribe. We've had this VERIFIED account for 8+ years to sign our drivers. We've been trying to resolve this for over a month, and getting nowhere. Support is non-existent. Anyone know a human with a brain that still works at Microsoft and can help?

Microsoft suspended the developer account for WireGuard (and also VeraCrypt). Why? Literally nobody knows. Presumably it's because Microsoft hates everyone and wants us all to suffer.

DeepSeek Expert 🆚Instant - Space Invaders The outputs from Expert mode currently aren’t a significant improvement over Instant mode I think it’s likely that Expert mode still routes to some version of V4 Lite for now. We might have to wait a bit longer to see the full V4 on the web

@reneromero08 @ns123abc The consumer market is a race to the bottom, one that a company like Google will most likely win. This is not new for Anthropic either they positioned themselves as enterprise 1st, consumer 2nd from the beginning. They only had to start thinking about it more because OpenAI sucks

@ns123abc Just because OpenAI fucked up first doesn't mean Anthropic can't fuck up 2nd. Consumer market is super upset with Anthropic right now about their rate limiting. They make more money then OpenAI but they treat their consumer market like peasants begging for tokens.

I swear that some of these guys don't know how to open a browser or something. I literally used CachyOS and other Linux versions it and it was VERY RARE having issues. Actually, there were some cases were Linux already had more drivers (from like WiFi) than Windows... The only card that really had issues was the ARC B580

This thread is so funny, it shows why Linux can't become mainstream as it is now. And these threads always end up with "just do sudo pacman xyzqwe" "just search the solution with some LLM, 1 minute job", or "wrong distro, use XYZ distro".
Jacob Terkelsen@theterk

Another day of gaming on Linux. Or at least trying. Trying to use CachyOS to get the "gaming packages" installed and it doesn't work. I guess I'll spend 15 minutes on fixing this in a terminal window.

@theo @jarredsumner @badlogicgames Yeah I don’t get it. Nobody is telling Anthropic to open source their entire stack and just let everyone copy it. I like using Claude a lot, it is my favorite LLM by far. Anthropic could be a very incredible company too. The apprehensions towards OSS is annoying.

To be clear - my interest isn't in external contributors. I specifically think OSS is the right call for transparency, trust, and experimentation. I'm trying my hardest to build awesome experiences around Claude Code, and it is really damn hard. Codex was a dream to build around. Whenever we had issues, I just pointed my agents at the Codex CLI repo and they got resolved quickly. If I'm being frank, I do not trust Anthropic enough with this code to leave it closed source. If the docs (and tbh the TOS) were 10x better, I'd reconsider my stance.

what would happen in reality - the tracker would be overrun with extremely poor slop PRs within days, making things worse, not better - triaging would become near impossible, given the flood of PRs - as a result, anthropic would merge exactly zero community contributions ask me how i know
Michael@michael_chomsky

it may sound insane, but @theo is almost definitely right to suggest that Anthropic should open-source Claude Code. The benefits are obvious: -it would be the most-starred repo of all time by a very wide margin, easily surpassing OpenClaw -they would get a bunch of free engineering from some of the smartest people in the world, and engineering velocity would skyrocket -a lot of the many small bugs plaguing CC would be eliminated -they would receive an unprecedented level of goodwill -CC SDK usage would likely 10x The downsides definitely aren't as pressing now that the source has been leaked. Regardless, 2025 was the year of mediocre harnesses. This will not be the case in 2026. I expect great things from Anthropic, OAI, Pi, Nous, OpenCode, and Slate Because once users taste a great harness, it's hard to return to something that isn't nearly as good.
