What started out as just an idea with @chloepark just 2 weeks ago became a wonderful evening reflecting on how AI is reshaping design last night in NYC. Thank you to our friends @seanxthielen, @gabrielvaldivia, @neogeomancer and @jameygannon for sharing your demos and wisdom with us, and for all the designers who showed up to make the room what it was. Shoutout again to @automattic for hosting us in such a beautiful space. For those who weren’t able to make it, we will definitely be hosting a future event so please keep an eye out. New Canvas 001 happened last night. @melodyskim and I hosted 60 designers in NYC and almost every speaker showed something personal, not client work, just the tool they wanted to exist for themselves—something that would have felt too expensive or out of reach a year ago. @jameygannon with s-tier midjourney technique built over constant trial and error, @seanxthielen and @gabrielvaldivia both building personal software for an audience of one, and @neogeomancer on how AI is finally giving form to ideas he's been thinking about for years but couldn't previously express in software. ironically, the more time we spend building with AI the more I think in-person is going to matter—we're moving faster but spending more time on screens, not less. last night was a reminder that there's no substitute for being in a room with people who care about the same things. C.S. Lewis asked in 1939 whether beauty matters when the world is in crisis. last night felt like the answer.

We are winding down the Family iOS wallet. Family Accounts will continue to power the Aave App as part of Aave’s infrastructure, helping bring millions of users into DeFi. In 2023, we partnered with the Family team because they were the strongest design team in the space. This collaboration ultimately led to the acquisition of Family. Over the years, the Family team has made significant contributions across multiple products, including Aave Pro, the Aave App, and Aave’s brand identity, earning strong recognition for their work. Through this journey, we’ve learned that onboarding millions of users requires purpose-built experiences, such as savings, rather than generic, open-ended wallet experiences. As part of this transition, the Avara brand is no longer required as we go all in on bringing Aave to the masses. We are now united as one team of world-class designers, engineers, and smart contract experts, aligned around a single mission: bringing DeFi to everyone.
