SECRETARY RUBIO: The U.S. is constantly asked to help in wars and we have. But when we had a need, it didn’t get positive responses from NATO. A couple leaders said that Iran was not Europe’s war. Well, Ukraine isn’t our war, yet we’ve contributed more to that fight than anyone.

@dgdoyle84 Giving test centres access to that data would certainly raise legal & data‑protection issues plus its the Individual, not just vehicle, coverage so is this specific named learner insured, for this specific vehicle, for this specific test on this specific day?

@Jack52127243 @GerHerbert1 A paper insurance disc in the windscreen is outdated and should be scrapped! It should be linked to the registration number. Test instructors and Gardai should ba able to simply input the reg to identify who is/isnt isn’t insured to drive any vehicle.

@INNewx Coming from a regime that kills its own people, has no navy anymore, don’t have hardly any missiles left, and lies more than it tells the truth. If you were smart you would get a new free government that don’t kill its citizens.

@GerHerbert1 Did anyone notice that our open borders policy has led to an extra 229,000 vehicles on our roads since 2020? I might be wrong here, but, if the number of vehicles increases, the number of crashes will probably increase too.

@Alan_Kelly @rtenews I always do give space. The only thing you might disagree with is, if I've struggled to overtake a cyclist where there's no cycle lane, then find myself stopped at lights, I'll pull close to the kerb so they can't get past me again to start the whole process over again.

Testing commute times during Dublin’s morning rush-hour by car, bus and bike. RTÉ reporters Maggie Doyle in her car, Colman O’Sullivan on his bike and Barry Gallagher on a bus left Woodstown Shopping Centre in Knocklyon near the M50 and headed into St Stephen’s Green. Here’s how they got on rte.ie/news/2026/0324…

@paddy_lark @rtenews If you can’t cycle…be nice to the cyclists you meet on your commute. Give plenty of space when overtaking and remember..every cyclist you meet is one less car on the road.

@Alan_Kelly @rtenews I still wouldn't cycle to work. I'm 70kms away and public transport isn't an option for my start times. Best of luck cycling in that weather we're currently getting.

@paddy_lark @rtenews 70k is very long alright…nobody is saying everyone should cycle. It’s clearly not an option for you. The weather is not a major negative factor for most. It’s the poor cycling infrastructure and aggressive drivers that put people off cycling.

@Tones24649888 @rtenews Without Problems? Less cars in the 60's yet: "Total road deaths rose steadily through the 1960s (from 302 in 1960 to 462 in 1969)"

@rtenews Good old Dublin during the 1960s before the Green agenda of cycle lanes and endless plastic bollards. Note O'Connell St had parking both sides and in the centre, cyclists and cars co existed without problems

@DavidMarra @ciarancannon @risteardc1 @GardaTraffic @grok Your asking the wrong question. The real question is how would I cope if convicted of dangerous driving causing death? How would I pay the mortgage? who would look after the kids? How would having a criminal conviction affect my life? ….just use car’s Bluetooth!

@ciarancannon @risteardc1 @GardaTraffic Hey @grok how many people are killed annually as a result of a driver looking at their phone whilst their car is completely stationary, for example while stopped at a red light? EU and/or UK numbers are fine.

@Mappermick @LNBDublin If it’s more difficult to get around by bike when you’re of a certain age, that’s a clear sign you didn’t start cycling (exercise) when you were younger! 😉

@LNBDublin I wonder what the age demographic of the cycle-lane supporters is, Lynn?🤔 It's more difficult to get around by bike, even an e-bike, when you're *ahem* of a certain age and physical disposition... I know EV's aren't the answer, but better Public Transport systems would help.

Cycling in Dublin for commuting rises 50% as most residents back more bike lanes The vast majority of residents across the State’s five main cities want increased investment in cycling infrastructure, even when that results in less road space for cars. irishtimes.com/ireland/dublin…

Starting in 2026, the Belgian government is boosting the reimbursement from €0.25 to €0.37 per kilometre for cycling to work. Would this incentive entice you to swap out your car journey? Could this work in Ireland? (Via cycling weekly)

@JoannaDonnellyL The Primary School at Kinsealy is a disaster in the mornings. every single kid seems to be driven to that school! they even have a "lollypop" lady at the Pedestrian lights crossing! It will only get worse as the new houses in Hayleys hill are occupied.

@Toibin1 We need a campaign for better Public Transport, less urban sprawl and less cars on our roads. The M50 is already above capacity…reducing the toll will only add to congestion.

Congestion on the M50 is increasing. It takes 70 minutes to drive the M50 in the morning. That's 18 minutes more than this time last year. At the same time, the government is hiking up the cost of tolls. Join our campaign to fight against congestion and scrap the toll.
