Got delayed at DFW for 9 hours because @AmericanAir forgot to put a catering cart on a newly renovated plane. Sat on the tarmac for almost 4 hours. Then had to pull back into the gate because of a "paperwork issue" according to the captain. Then the crew swapping started. 3 pilot crew later we finally left. Got into key west at 115am. Missed my charter boat trip. Missed my birthday dinner. Couldn't get a rental car...all because of logistical mess ups on AA side. Never experienced anything like this before. They offered 10k points ($100 equivalent) as compensation for my $2500 ticket. Thanks American for the great birthday present.

Interesting enough, my dad also grew up in South Chicago as a young gangster and did paper routes too for many years. He went to church as a 16 year old and stole the church bus, got in fights, etc. Eventually, he was saved and asked the girl out who led him to the Lord! He married her, and though he couldn't read or write for many years, he worked hard putting us 4 kids into Christian school. He stayed faithful to mom and us even though his dad didn't, leaving him when he was but 8 years old. And, yes, he calls me every week. My dad's my hero. They now live in the NW corner of Indiana. #happyfathersday
