The Health Secretary will announce a record eight million online requests for GPs' appointments in England in just one month after changing the rules to allow appointments to be booked over the internet. @polly_bartlett reports.

The majority of Physician Associates are in 1 care at the moment Can I suggest @NHSE_WTE @PrimaryCareNHS @rcgp consider commissioning a formal review of the role, issues around efficiency, supervisory capacity & safety? BEFORE further expansion? Literally your “specialty” No?

If you are a PA who wants to see undifferentiated patients and act as a mid-level then get behind @UMAPsUK & continue to fight us If you are a PA who thinks your role may be beneficial in the areas outlined by @lengreview then let's work together to build that narrative & vision

Physician Associates are being renamed to Physician Assistants because the public was confused about their role. But here’s what’s truly confusing: A physician assistant now starts on a salary that’s nearly £10,000 more than a fully qualified doctor. Read that again. Doctors - who train for years, take on legal responsibility, make life or death decisions; are being paid less than the people assisting them. Even if doctors won full pay restoration tomorrow, they still wouldn’t be on equal footing. @wesstreeting, how on earth is that acceptable? Doctors are leaving. The NHS is haemorrhaging staff. Patients are waiting longer for their appointments because this Government refuses to fix pay and value and retain doctors. Is it any surprise doctors are striking?
