@SandyofCthulhu I read the first chapter of the first book in the wheel of time series and noped right the F out.
I felt battered about the head with a big thesaurus and a really expensive English degree.
Knowing there were at least 7 more books at that time, I was done.
English

A friend suggested The Wheel of Time, by Robert Jordan. I read a little bit, then whined to him, "I read 100 pages and nothing happened." He said, "Give it another 200 pages." Anyway I never read another word. Maybe it was awesome. But I don't want to earn the right to enjoy a book. this rule particularly applies to games. An early game might have a restricted field of choice, but those choices need to exist.
If you turn on Age of Empires, you start with a town center, three villagers, and some resources. What should you do? Find sheep? Hunt deer? Lure boars? find berries? Build a house? You have many choices.
At the start of my board game Cthulhu Wars you have 6 cultists and a gate. Almost everyone starts the game by moving a cultist and building a gate. But where do you move that cultist? What's your third move? Summon a monster? Move a second cultist? Go after a spellbook? Games are about interesting decisions that matter.

@godwinanthony06 He totally planned to be frozen in ice for 100 years just to dodge his responsibility.
Yup, completely intentional.
You're an idiot BTW.
English

Unpopular opinion: Aang was lowkey the villain. His refusal to accept his role directly caused the war to last 100 years
symplyTonbra@SymplyTonbra
What’s something you DON’T like about Aang?

@rousinar Did you know this person before hand? If not filming you before talking to you has some major red flags for me.
Maybe it's a modern way to flirt, I dunno.
Make someone go viral to catch their attention? Is that how it's done?
I hope it works out, but be careful

If after 5000 hours you're still bad at the game, I've got bad news for you

@schiz04renic I started at 13 trial and error after having watched Nannas and mother. Later some cookbooks. Later cooking TV shows. More cookbooks. Practice makes perfect. Working in a restaurant as a kitchen hand. More TV shows. More cookbooks, Michelin starred writers. Cooking every day.

@mom_of_littles Smoked Edam cheese, English Spinach leaves and a spiced Tomato Relish are my go too for toasted cheese. Pan fried with high quality olive oil.

@GamewithDave My PS2 still works, for the record.
My first computer was a commodore 64. The first one I ever used was an Atari.
English

@Spamfromk Can we just have one quiet day.
No expectations. No obligations. Just stillness and quiet? Of course not. Now we need to parade around pretending to happy around ppl we don't actually like that much, but pretend, to be polite. Otherwise we'd have no one. Thatd be OK though

@reddit_lies I work 230pm til 1030pm. So, shrug...
I go to bed 230am and sleep 6 hours if im lucky.
I work 4 days a week, not 5.
Ive worked hospitality and now security.
We are not the same.

@LavenderGhast The rule of 2 is pretty simple, you can't have more then 2 Sith in a room together without an inevitable betrayal. The dark side enhances every negative emotion, that level of stress is only going to create a highly unpredictable, untrustworthy person.
English

If anyone can have the force with training why did the Sith ever struggle with their numbers. Why did they have to hunt down force sensitives rather than just training anyone to become an inquisitor.
And Sabine becoming a Jedi takes away from what made her special and the concept that just because you lack talent in one area, doesn't mean you can't find the thing that makes you special. Now she's just another force user gifted with magic powers.
Marauder Matt@marauder_matt
I think the rejection of Sabine becoming force sensitive and this mocking idea that “anyone can use the force” is completely antithetical to what the force represents and the real world magic/mysticism that inspired it. Why would we ever look at the Force as something exclusive?
English

@DirtyDomDom She's about to compete in a body building competition. I wouldn't call that WWE focused.
English

WWE is really out here strapping a rocket to someone who openly treats the business like a stepping stone to Hollywood by age 30. 🙄
Meanwhile, you have an absolute machine like Ivy Nile living and breathing wrestling. Look at the work she puts in.
WWE should Stop rewarding people who already have one foot out the door and start pushing the actual workhorses who want to be here.

English

WWE is struggling with getting people to boo Randy Orton... There is at least one solution.
Well... what do you expect once someone reaches the legend status that Orton is now?
Orton is RKOing the wrong people. Matt Cardona is not hot like he was as Zack Ryder. Not even a little. Giving him an RKO woudln't work, but you can still use him.
What if Orton gave Chelsea Green the RKO? What if he kayfabe put her in a wheel chair? What if the next week, he shoved Wheelchair bound Chelsea Green off the stage? WWE wouldn't have the testicular fortitude for this.
And if that doesn't work, he can always tell Rey Mysterio that Eddie's in hell again.

@rob_bohanan She visited Ivy Niles home gym and was talking about competing in body building comps. So yeah id say she's bored.

@Jeremyakee I posed a similar question the other day and was laughed out of the room.
So let's say Gollum / Smeagal survives. The ring still goes into the lava etc.
Do the Elves invite him onto the ships? As a ringbearer.
Was him helping destroy the ring enough to redeem him?
English

There is a passage in The Two Towers which is arguably among the most important across the books.
Frodo and Sam are asleep outside the entrance to Shelob's lair when Smeagol sidles up to Frodo. Tolkien writes that anyone who saw him would have thought was just a very tired old hobbit. He is written in such affectionate terms here. It is clear that in this moment Smeagol was very close to embracing the Good. But Sam wakes up, assumes the worst about his intentions, and that's that. Smeagol was killed in that moment and Gollum was what remained.
The movies could and should have included this scene. It would have added SO MUCH depth to the already deep on screen character of Smeagol/Gollum.
We all wrestle with the good and evil in our own hearts. Not everyone wins that match. That is the lesson of Gollum in the books and movies alike.

English

@SandyofCthulhu Tyson based on his power and decent chin.
Nobody there could take a decent shot from him
English

Mohammed Ali has a pretty good shot at it I’d say. He’s fast and tough. My karate instructor back in the 70s told me that one of the toughest opponents for a martial artist was a skilled boxer, because they could really take a hit and keep on coming, plus a boxer’s own punches were devastating.
