You left out the part where the US Federal Government spends $2 trillion per year on Medicare/Medicaid which is almost 40% of tax revenue. Further the 'private' (not private) market is required by Obamacare to purchase insurance. It's not a free market when the government requires you to buy a product even if it is from a private business.

Scott - the government can't do anything economically "efficiently" - if the government is doing it, the cost will be higher, and the quality lower than what a free market could provide.

Those "grill scrapings" are what happens when ground beef hits 450°F steel and the proteins undergo the Maillard reaction at maximum surface area. A spherical patty sitting on a grill touches maybe 15% of its surface. A smash burger pressed flat against a plancha touches 90%+. That means 6x more beef surface is simultaneously converting amino acids and reducing sugars into hundreds of new flavor compounds. The browning you're looking at is roughly 500 to 1,000 distinct molecules that didn't exist before the meat hit the steel. The crispy lace around the edges is rendered fat that seeped out under pressure, hit the hot steel, and fried the protein strands from the outside in. Those thin edges are essentially beef chips. They shatter when you bite them, which creates a textural contrast against the still-juicy center that a thick pub burger physically cannot produce. The flat geometry also solves a heat transfer problem. A thick patty has a massive temperature gradient from surface to center. You either overcook the outside waiting for the middle, or pull it with a raw center. A smash burger is thin enough that the entire patty reaches optimal temperature within 60 to 90 seconds per side. There's no gradient to manage. George Motz documented over 300 burger restaurants for his book and found that nearly every legendary regional burger in America, from the Midwest butter burger to the Oklahoma onion burger, uses this exact technique. Thin, pressed, maximum contact with a hot flat surface. The ones that look the worst on camera consistently taste the best. The visual mess is the flavor.

There are also those who have made mistakes and unwittingly (maybe deep down inside they knew) took $$$ that they really didn't deserve, had a opportunity to be honest and instead took the windfall and said nothing, slowly over time became frustrated because no one was (in their minds) listening to them and decided to take a opportunity to get over on someone else why? because everyone else was doing it, or was part of a group and didnt pull their weight for a bit got left out then the team was succesful and they then became a villain in the space because they felt wronged, or came in with a victim mentality from the beginning and bought into a token that the team then rugged or slow rugged everyone and then set out to do the same to everyone else, or even felt so harmed by it that they decided to make multiple anon acct to hide behind and go after them 24/7 on X. The most upfront and aggregious in my mind is where people used "code is law" to take other peoples assets simply because they were either to trusting/ignorant/new or easily usable by the developers that saw this as a normal thing to do. Hell I had someone in a space not understand that taking other peoples $$ becasue they were "dumb enough" to put there hard earn assets into a OBVIOUS rug". Then after I explained a scenario where one of the people you rugged just happened to be your neighbor would that be OK? and he still didnt get what I was saying, @RickMcCracken had to explain it to him in a way he apparently could understand (still in english btw). Once Rick was done I explained if the guy came over and knocked on your door and you said go pound sand I am not responsible for your actions and he then proceeded to beat your ass?
