@EVMavericks1306 @hanni_abu @owocki I think the reasoning is if you only have datacenters left to validate, hardware requirements can be higher. Exaggerating but you get the point.

for ~2 years there's been a telegram group where ethereum's monetary policy gets debated. justin drake started it march 2025, the day after solana's issuance cut failed a vote. 2,715 messages later, three camps that formed in the first 48 hours haven't moved: 1. reduce issuance (anders' 0.5% max-issuance curve, because the network overpays for security and staking slowly eating raw eth is a real risk). 2. don't you dare (hanniabu's math: cut it and coinbase survives on loss-leader economics while the solo staker dies). 3. it's not urgent (sassal: the merge already cut issuance 90% and eth/btc still bled). meanwhile staking has crossed 1/3 of all eth and keeps grinding up ~50k/day. but the data shows it flowing to coinbase, binance, kraken, and treasury companies. everyone agrees the current curve was suboptimal. nobody agrees it's urgent, safe to change, or fixable without breaking something they care about more. this is what monetary policy looks like with no central bank. the hard part is getting a decentralized system to agree that changing the rules is safe.

In order to understand what this means you need to know that Brantly was the main reason ENS got so popular back in 2021-2022. The same people who are now stealing the $500m canceled him and fired him even after all he did for ENS. Yet he did the unthinkable and kept working on ENS until today even after having been treated the way he was. Imagine the frustration of Labs. You fire the guy, you mount a canceling campaign against him ... and yet he does not stop working on the ecosystem. What this firing and canceling did not do, Nick and Labs managed to finally achieve today. In killing ENS by capturing the DAO and stealing its treasury there is no ecosystem to build on anymore. A naming system that people don't use is worthless. Shame it has come to that. And despite all that, Brantly and the team shows integrity again here by declining the $1.2m grant from the DAO to keep building on the ecosystem. As there is no ecosystem to build on anymore. They could have just taken it and slow rugged, but no they are people of integrity. I applaud Brantly and his team for doing so. The downside that's $1.2m more for Nick and Labs to steal through their "independent" foundation ...

the .eth comes off, the end of a chapter for me I have decided to move on from ENS, given recent events and other reasons. I'm grateful for my time with ENS and I wish everyone well going forward This includes winding down @ethidorg. I and my incredible teammates are open to new opportunities, DMs are welcome. My team has been amazing! Any of them would make a great addition to your team: @0xthrpw @encrypteddegen @sat_eth @jalilwahdat @quantumly 🔥 Re our projects like @grailsmarket, @ensmarketbot, @efp, etc: Thank you to all of our users, we appreciate you! Most of these projects will sunset over the next few weeks (tho code remains open source), more information will be posted later Godspeed everyone 🤝

@owocki @drjasper_eth had an interesting curve solution I saw somewhere, but didn't look too deeply, but protected home stakers. I lean to this doesn't matter, right now, but I definitely see how it could become more of an issue.

If I was a bad actor I would 1) Have someone launch a coin for me 2) Take it over to "save the community" 3)Airdrop a bunch of the supply to friends & influencers *That way they'll stay quiet when it goes to shit 4) A bunch more to my unknown side wallets *Justify it as airdropping to community 5) Look like an angel 6) Cash out on the side holding on main 7) Keep bullposting Coin goes to zero eventually? I'm still holding you idiots did this, why can't we have nice things "I'm losing infinite just as you are" "At least we tried" All the while I'm laughing my way to the bank Glad this is just a hypothetical, would be truly evil if anyone did this

There's a more nuanced overview on ethdebate.com/issuance > 2. don't you dare (hanniabu's math: cut it and coinbase survives on loss-leader economics while the solo staker dies). That's not quite my take. My take is: - those pushing the change are doing so in an extremely bias way by pretending there's only positive outcomes of reduced issuance and only negative outcomes of the current issuance; it's more nuanced than that with lots of tradeoffs which is why I made ethdebate.com - "minimal viable issuance" doesn't even state how you define what's minimal - quality of stake matters the most for resilience but larger stakers have economies of scale to outlast independent stakers as issuance trends lower, pushing out the most valuable stakers - the above outcome isn't guaranteed to happen under the current issuance but it if we lower it so it's probably more accurate to say I'm in camp 3 - there's no consideration of downstream effects to defi but when this is brought up it's met with claims that this will somehow be good an even raise yields in some magical way - there's also nonsense arguments being made to try and gain support like stating that cutting issuance will lead to price appreciation or that cutting issuance is needed for PQ - I can't help but feel there's an unstated hidden agenda motivating this push which is they know it'll push out validators and want that b/c having less validators makes the lean roadmap easier

1/ JPMorgan launched JLTXX, the OnChain Liquidity Token Money Market Fund, on May 13. @jpmorgan seeded the fund with $100m of its own capital. Other launch investors brought day-one TVL to $200m. Seven weeks later, TVL has grown 248% to $695m as of July 3. @ethereum is currently the only blockchain available for use by investors in the fund.

"The server your wallet reads the chain through saw every address you hold, polled from one IP—your full portfolio, neatly grouped for whoever keeps the logs." Your could make a private transaction, but your offchain data makes the link. Excellent read below 🕵️‍♀️

1/ When you open your wallet, check your balance, or pay a friend, it feels unobserved. But what your wallet gives away may tell a different story. New article from @escottalexander looks at why the layer that sees everything is also the layer that can protect everything ↓

@CryptoParadyme Felt like behavior this time around was different. No real blow offs. Not much of an alt szn. Generally less euphoria from what I can tell. Top felt more controlled than every cycle I’ve participated in

Devil’s Advocate: If this cycle’s top was different from previous cycles.. Why can’t this cycle’s bottom be different as well? Do we really need to see a pseudo-FTX LUNA Death Spiral from MicroStrategy?
