@VikkiRossWrites @georget20 Praise indeed from the Queen of Copy, the First Lady of Letters and, recently, Jon Evans’s Wonder Woman of Words. Thank you.

@georget20 It - and @HarrisoSteve’s Changing The World… - should be compulsory reading for everyone in marketing and advertising. And while I’m here, every copywriter should read his How To Write Better Copy.

@benedictpringle Paul Burke has highlighted the weasel in would/does. And I have pointed out that the cost of living crisis is not peculiar to the UK and that even here there are other factors to consider. Are you still sure it's a "brilliant" ad?

@HarrisoSteve BoE clearly have a big role. But if Sunak felt he had no power to influence inflation it would seem odd that he spent his leadership campaign banging on about it and also made it one of his 5 pledges.

@benedictpringle Incidentally it was the last Labour govt (1997) that transferred its authority over U.K. monetary policy to the bank. And therefore primary responsibility for tackling inflation.

@HarrisoSteve I think most would accept that inflation fits into the realms of government responsibility. It’s one of Sunak’s 5 pledges after all.

@benedictpringle Beeb’s analysis of shopping costs: Bar chart showing the av price of basket of 23 food and non-food items in six European countries. France is the most expensive at £67.57, while Germany is the cheapest at £47.25. Spain, Italy, the UK and the Netherlands are all around £51-£53.

"If it's true that David Ogilvy didn't begin his career as a copywriter until he was pushing 40, he'd have little chance today of getting a start at his own agency." - @HarrisoSteve, Can't Sell Won't Sell. bit.ly/3VD7Mjg

I’m in a taxi discussing Christmas ads with the driver (Paul, btw) and he says, “Companies shouldn’t bother with all that doing good stuff - just make ‘em about Christmas”

More great work by James and his admirable team at Commercial Breaks and LEO. While many in the industry talk about changing the world, James and his crew get on with doing it.

What are the best online copywriting courses? My client just hired 2 junior copywriters through Kickstart. Both have writing experience (uni newspapers, content/comms internships) but want a solid intro to what *copywriting* is and how to do it well. #CopywritersUnite

I've missed Ben & Jerry's assessment of the Russian invasion and their message to President Putin on how it might be "de-escalated". Can any one enlighten me?
