When you talk to prominent O&G platforms and a MCP isn’t on their roadmap it feels like you’re in some alternate universe. With the current tools to build stuff how are they still behind? I’m building mcp code execution servers on massive APIs that are recursively self improving….in my home office.

@earlefeel69 Experienced with before. Left, started my own thing, never looked back. It’ll probably be the same amount of work that you were putting in, but you get to keep all the money.

Sorry for the rant, just needed somewhere to vent. I’m Ops manager for an OFS company. Been here 10 years and 1 month. As I’ve eluded to before, in February I took a 15% pay cut. Everyone in my region did. Because our area just doesn’t have the revenue like the Midland yard. My workload also increased at this time to 5-10 more hours per week. I haven’t been happy much before that. But as soon as this happened, I started applying to 5-10 jobs a day. Mostly AI data center jobs. Some oil and gas jobs. Lateral moves, upgrades, downgrades, and current competitors. I’ve probably applied to ~300 jobs since the beginning of February and gotten only 7 interviews. 1 in person, 6 phone screenings. I’ve only made it past the first phone screening once and then got denied in the 2nd. I even have a professional head hunter working with me. She volunteered without me even asking, because “I have years of relevant experience”. My current position has me so stressed out with deadlines and budgets that I’d become a subpar husband and father to my family. A subpar employee as well because of the workload. I’ve even gotten stomach ulcers. I’ve always wanted to start my own business, but that that thought comes and goes like the wind. I have a stay at home wife, 2 kids, and one on the way. I need health insurance. I also don’t even have a personal vehicle anymore. Just a company pickup. But if I have to hear one more corporate bullshit line like “Did you update the spreadsheet yet?” Or “Did you try cold calling this person again?” one more time, I’m going to jump off a bridge. This morning it hit me, I’m not finding a job because I’m not supposed to. I’m very well qualified for any of these positions I’m applying for. I’m supposed to have a venture of my own. I am sick and freaking tired of getting of just enough money to get by, just so the rich can get richer. I am sick and freaking tired of some other grown man telling me where and when to be there. I just have ZERO idea of what this venture is. I have hardly any capital at all. I just know that I can’t do this shit anymore. I was not built to have some other person tell me what to do. I was built to be on my own. If you read this far, thank you 💙
