Just finished an interview on @ktrhnews 740 AM about how tax-and-spend Fort Bend ISD has become! They are going to use last year’s Hurricane Beryl to raise the @FortBendISD property tax rate by 7 “disaster” pennies, which is the same “tax and spend” nonsense @HarrisCoJudge Lina Hildago used that the TX Legislature passed a law to stop but wait, there’s more! Their Superintendent and CFO say they’ll spend it on teacher salaries, despite the State of Texas literally shoveling $8.5 billion into public schools statewide, with the majority of the money going for teacher raises! What’s really going on is part of our $10 billion in property tax relief is cutting the School ISD M&O rate by 6 pennies, so just like in 2023, FBISD is trying to sponge up the property tax cut, even though it’s unnecessary in the extreme! Read it now: houstonchronicle.com/neighborhood/f… The FBISD trustees should just say NO to Superintendent White and CFO Guinn’s one-year-only “smash and grab” of $35 million dollars from district taxpayers! It will cost homesteads $150 and wipe out any property tax relief on the way for commercial real estate owners! The FBISD board still has to approve next year’s property tax rate, so all home and business owners should tell them NO! Just tell all @FortBendISD trustees to say NO to a falsetto 7-penny “disaster” property tax rate increase—period! Our new law, HB 30 (Rep @EllenTroxclair), that stops taxing units from doing this without actual @fema expenses, starts next year, so this is the last ride of an @tasbnews “Avarice” ISD, I hope! @FortBendCounty Economic Development Council @fortbendgop Chair Dr. @BobbyEberle13 Sen. @joanhuffman & @LoisKolkhorst Rep. @GatesforTexas & @MorganMeyerTX. @TPPF @txtaxpayers
