@DaveMallinak @andyblarsen Or match the statewide vote average to the percentage of seats each party won to the best amount practical. It’s called proportionality. It’s what people use most often to call a map unfair.

@KilleyAlex @andyblarsen So, you admit that gerrymandering is inescapable. Someone has to draw the lines, demographics have to be part of the equation. The only non-gerrymandered option would be straight lines north to south and east to west.

@DaveMallinak @andyblarsen Yes but that’s doing deliberately to avoid giving Salt Lake County its own representation when it has enough people for it. That is literally gerrymandering, you’d be manipulating the map to a party’s benefit.

@KilleyAlex @andyblarsen Actually, no it isn't. We could find a dozen ways to draw the boundaries with equal population densities and not carve out a Dem +25 district.

This is gerrymandering, just for (D)s. Could you point to the map that the prop 4 committee made that's the current map? To say Utah voters decided is not only bad faith, its a flat out lie In soviet Utah do numbnuts think Map 1 is from & for the people x.com/TheJTShow2024/…

Reminder. THIS IS NOT GERRYMANDERING. This district was created as a measure to end gerrymandering and create more fair districts. This was decided but Utahs voters. I like Jody, but his take here is IDIOTIC.

@andyblarsen So we "fixed" gerrymandering with gerrymandering. The new map isn't an example of a non-gerrymandered map. Not when 3 districts cover the state and 1 covers SLC.

@andyblarsen All legislative maps are gerrymandered. Prop 4 doesn’t stop that from happening you twit. It just allows other groups to do accept which gerrymandered map we use.

@warshington_dc There’s nothing extreme about a district entirely inside Salt Lake County. It’s a very normal, plain congressional map.

The sooner people realize just how extreme the Salt Lake congressional district is, the sooner Blake Moore’s support will collapse. Only an antidemocratic process could have created those boundaries. I would bet the map wouldn’t exceed 40% approval from the general population.

As liberals in Utah celebrate today, this fact is obvious: It's only gerrymandering if the other party does it.

@dkeaton024 As of the last election, "Democrats make up nearly 13.5% of the active voter list, down from 14% at this same time four years ago," according to KSL. Now you'll get 25% of the votes. You guys won this gerrymander round. Congrats!

The only non-gerrymandered district is a district that accurately reflects the demographics of the state as a whole. This means that every district represents the partisanship of the state and every district would be 51% Republican. According to Independent Voter Project independentvoterproject.org/voter-stats/ut… Utah voter registration is as follows: Republican 51.36% Independent 35.06% Democrat 13.58% Using these numbers Democrats should not have 25% of the seats that are available in the house of representatives. To fully justify our court decreed district 1, Democrat voters would have to account for at least 25% of the registered voters in the state. The district 1 seat is a stolen seat. It exagerates the proper representation of Democrats in the state of Utah.

@utescootin What’s gerrymandering to you? When you create a district just so it can be a Democrat seat. That’s 100% gerrymandering .

It’s looking increasingly likely that Better Boundaries won’t stop at stealing a congressional seat via the judiciary. This was never about fair representation. They want the state of Utah to turn blue. That is their end goal. Remember who did this to our state.

Also good to have helped, they lied to my sister (told her it was an anti-gerrymandering prop), who is a resident of the SD that just failed to qualify, I got her to remove her signature

#BREAKING: Utah Republicans petition to repeal independent redistricting and anti-gerrymandering protections has fallen below the signature threshold. The petition no longer has enough signatures to make the November ballot. deseret.com/politics/2026/…

@JacksonForUtah You had her remove her signature so judges can gerrymander it for democrats? Great job! Now people outside of utah will determine how to gerrymander it instead of the legislature who we vote for.
