All of my driving today was very smooth with no brake issues - I drove through HEAVY construction, parking lots, highways, etc and had no issues at all related to braking. We did run into a problem where the car got stuck trying to leave the parking lot - this is a problem that a larger context window would likely fix. Rivian Universal Hands-Free vs Tesla Self-Driving This was my first time testing Rivian's new Universal Hands-Free, and I was honestly surprised by how it performed. I understand this is their first attempt and it will only improve from here, but truthfully, it is worse than any version of FSD or Autopilot I have ever used. I respect Rivian as a company, but I always try to remain unbiased in my opinions, so here are my unfiltered thoughts on where UHF stands today. "Taping out" is a term from semiconductor design. It refers to the milestone when a chip's design is finalized and "taped out". This means the completed layout files are sent to a foundry (like TSMC or Samsung) for manufacturing the first physical silicon prototypes. It's essentially the point where the design phase ends and production begins (though actual mass production comes later after testing and validation). When Elon Musk talks about taping out AI6, he's referring to Tesla's custom AI inference chip (part of their in-house hardware for Full Self-Driving, Optimus robots, and data centers).

Whoa, @elonmusk replied to an X users post saying 14.3 is in testing and will release in a few weeks!

AI5 will punch far above its weight, because the entire Tesla AI software stack is designed to make maximally effective use of every circuit. We co-signed our AI software and hardware. Bear in mind that AI5, while it can be used for training in data centers, is primarily optimized for AI edge compute in Optimus and Robotaxi. There is still significant room for improvement. In the same half reticle and same process node, we think a single AI6 chip has the potential to match a dual SoC AI5.

This is the first sighting of validation vehicles I’m aware of in Houston. I’ve seen manufacturer plates, but not this vehicle!

Tesla FSD 14.2.2.5 Ubers a young man and his parents from their west Houston home to dinner with friends at a local Indian/South Asian restaurant. We had a great conversation throughout the ride about Tesla FSD, Robotaxi, Ai, etc. And the young man is now seriously thinking about Tesla for his next vehicle after the ride. They were great! ❤️

I went to the exact same location of the Cybertruck accident shown in the Fox News video. This is the US-69/59 Eastex Freeway northbound HOV lane at the Y-split near the Eastex Park & Ride exit (approaching from downtown Houston toward Humble). In the Fox News video, the vehicle failed to follow the right curve, going straight into the barrier. Well, I tested it twice today with Tesla FSD engaged the entire time with zero human intervention. And unless you think I am a hologram speaking to you from another dimension now, it worked out really well. Here is the video of me taking the exact same curve twice, with Tesla FSD v14.2.2.5.
