Lovely to see so many getting around their day on bikes, this glorious morning. Fun fact: people who cycle to work take one fewer sick day a year on average than non-cyclists, saving the UK economy nearly £83m annually. Cleaner air, healthier people…hard to argue with that 🚲

@langoo @TheDoricMink We can campaign for anything we wish - that and complying with the current rules (whether driving or cycling) aren't mutually exclusive. I'm all for folks following the rules and enforcement of breaches - it's you who seems to be selective about which rules we should follow.

@NumbersMan3 @TheDoricMink It's certainly going well for drivers as we speak, if you ignore all the death and serious injuries. Again perhaps a focus on something that will have an actual impact here, like better infestructure or enforcement of pavement parking rules,might be more practical/effective. 🤔

Bridgeton seems to have the same issue as byres road although this is a long finished route, just accepted as far as I can tell. (judging by the frequency of parking here)

@langoo @TheDoricMink We tell people to act in accordance with the Highway Code. Seems quite a sensible take to me.

@NumbersMan3 @TheDoricMink Who's going to be envolved with the law here, we have already established that action is unlikely in the extreme. There more chance of the initial cause being sorted. You could stop all cycling on the pavement to avoid hazards and your unlikely to make any dent on road saftey1/2

@langoo @TheDoricMink Pavement cycling is prevented by people not cycling on the pavement. I'm all for parking enforcement. I don't know what "infestructure" is though.

@NumbersMan3 @TheDoricMink In this case the pavement cycling would be prevented by enforcement of parking rules and better infestructure design. You'll be campaigning for the no doubt. 🤔

@Grumper6 @let_part @boblister_poole @but_cyclists But in general setting the limiter at the current limit removes the "constant checking" thing, but can induce "pedal to the metal" even if conditions call for more moderation.

@let_part @boblister_poole @but_cyclists Are people too incompetent to learn how to use speed-limiters? They've been mandatory on new cars for a while & common for a long time,often on the same stalk as cruise control. Obviously,not every car on the road has the function but many do and it removes any purported stress.

@Grumper6 @let_part @boblister_poole @but_cyclists Some do, some don't. My last Skoda (17) controlled level and uphill but just beeped downhill. Current (74) controls downhill as well. The auto speed detect is prone to detecting phantom (ex road works?) limits which has proved quite dangerous.

@let_part @boblister_poole @but_cyclists That's a slightly different system of speed limit detection, which bleeps if you exceed. Mine has defaulted on for the last 3 cars, 17 plates onwards. Speed limiter is related to cruise control and stops you exceeding whatever it's set to.

@langoo @TheDoricMink Here's a thought. Vision Zero for ridden bike/ped collisions on the pavement - make it illegal to ride on the pavement. Oh ......

@NumbersMan3 @TheDoricMink Aggravating factor for what? As we have established you don't want the authorities to do anything more here and there isn't likely to be a court case in these circumstances. Does it just sound good to use terms with legal meaning that doesn't actually apply here. 🤷

@langoo @TheDoricMink I think you mean the illegal cycling. Your attitude of "rules are for others, not for me" could be considered an aggravating factor and warrant some resource on punishment if it might change that attitude.

@NumbersMan3 @TheDoricMink So your happy to waste resource punishing "cyclist" while providing sub standard infestructure and enforcement to protect it, which is the initiator of the considerate safe cycling you see in the clip. Surely dealing with the infestructure/parking issue would be more effective🤷
