@techwithchizi @DiscussingFilm The issue being discussed is people, actual human beings, not comic book characters, losing their jobs so a gigantic corporation can make a few more dollars. If you're not able to empathize with human beings maybe just don't say anything and avoid sounding like a sociopath

@DiscussingFilm Marvel shouldn't be together with Disney in the first place. Ever since the collaboration, Marvel movies has just been shit and look at what they turned their characters to in Disney Junior, to some child's play.

Evangeline Lilly has called out Disney for being “disgusting and horrible” after they laid off almost all of Marvel's visual development team. “SHAME ON YOU for turning your back on the people who built the power you are now using to throw them away.”

@strxwmxn A nation-state and its inhabitants are not synonymous. Ending the USSR didn't wipe out Russians, ending Apartheid South Africa didn't wipe out Afrikaners. If Israel wants peace it has to either a legit two-state solution or recreate itself as a nonsecular multi-ethnic state

@BigGeorgeUSA @strxwmxn You can't move "back" to a place you've never been. It's not 1948, there've been 3 generations of sabras born in Israel, it's their home. Forced expulsion is what we need to oppose, for ANY people.

China’s new official obsession: Getting people to read more books. In February, China passed a new regulation to build more public reading facilities and spaces. In April, China had its first-ever national reading week. State media encourages people to put down their phones and pick up a book. President Xi wants China to become a “cultural powerhouse” by 2035, and says the revival of reading is one of its pillars. Xi quotes Mao saying, “One can go a day without eating, a day without sleeping, but not a day without reading.” In 1949, less than 20% of China's population was literate. Today it's approaching 99%. When one of the most tech-focused countries in the world says that a population of book readers is vital to their future, we should all take note.

@PollTracker2024 No we do not agree with his point of view. The man has a Nazi tattoo, has issues with Black people, and thinks women deserve to be raped. We are not coming around to his point of view. He is a Republican psycho and he needs to stay elsewhere. Our tent is not big enough for Nazis.

NOTUS: Other Democrats are starting to agree with Platner’s view of the primary, arguing that Mills, a two-term governor recruited by Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer, stands little chance of winning next month. “It looks to me like Graham Platner is formidably ahead … his lead is 20 points, 30 points, something like that?” Sen. Tina Smith told NOTUS when asked this week about the race. Another Democratic senator, who requested anonymity to speak freely, went further by arguing that it’s time for their party to pull the plug on Mills and coalesce around Platner. “We should be focused on beating Susan Collins, not on beating up other Democrats. It’s time,” the senator told NOTUS. #MaineSenate

NOTUS: Graham Platner Is Already Effectively Declaring Victory in the Maine Senate Primary Democratic candidate Graham Platner’s campaign told donors this week that the general election in Maine has already begun, effectively declaring an early victory over his establishment-backed primary opponent, Gov. Janet Mills. The message follows another signal in how the race is trending, with a Republican super PAC beginning to target his campaign with new ads meant to boost Sen. Susan Collins, the Republican incumbent. notus.org/2026-election/…

CEO of Politico says it's so obvious that Iran is an aggressor working on a bomb that the statement doesn't need any proof. He says it's just a basic fact, like saying "America is the biggest democracy in the world." (America is not, in fact, the biggest democracy in the world)
Joe Wrote@joewrote

The Politico CEO called an all-hands meeting to say the outlet unequivocally supports Israel. He also said any reporter who disagrees with his personal Zionism should quit. When pressed by reporters on the need to follow journalistic ethics, he said: “I don’t need to prove Iran is seeking a nuclear weapon.”

I’m not “getting over” Graham Platner because “no Nazi tattoos” is not a purity test. It is the lowest bar imaginable. And he failed it. I’m tired of watching liberals make excuses for a Senate candidate who has a Nazi tattoo, made racist and sexist comments, defended war crimes, and now blames everyone but himself for his own bad choices becoming public. Marginalized communities are always told to “get over it” when a candidate looks like a risk to us - because we’re expected to quietly accept that even a bad Democrat is better than a Trump Republican. The worst part is watching people who call themselves anti-fascists dismiss the tattoo, the comments, behavior, the holes in his story, and sneer at anyone raising concerns as “hysterical.” We are real people with real reasons to be worried. CNN’s KFILE reported that text chains from before the tattoo scandal broke showed acquaintances saying Platner knew years ago it was a Totenkopf. So I don't find his “I had no idea until October 2025” story believable. And when a former Republican repeatedly says he’s “not a partisan,” while asking Democrats to ignore this many red flags, it is absolutely fair to ask whether he’ll vote with Democrats when it matters. ICE is out of control. Trump is trying to turn them into his own secret police. People with reason to fear white supremacists do not have the luxury of shrugging this off because some Pod Bros / Bernie Bros decided accountability is inconvenient. We don't need another Fetterman, Manchin, or Sinema. We need fighters, not fakes.

@Wilson__Valdez @jonfavs Have you ever considered moving on with your life and doing something other than being annoying on Twitter? You'd probably be happier, and fwiw, i've had you muted for years so when you do pop up, you just seem insufferable and tedious and not someone id want to associate with😘

I knew this. China doesn’t allow it freely as a Western country would, but it also doesn’t see it as dangerous enough to ban outright. The government manages it selectively. “Allowed” doesn’t mean unrestricted: It is not heavily promoted Has academic or niche circulation Translations may be curated or limited Availability can vary by region or time If a book suddenly became politically sensitive, it could disappear quickly. ************************************* Now answer my actual question. Just do a simple search on Amazon or go to a local library system. Oh, and I took Das Kapital out of my local library in 1972, followed by the Manifesto. I've been a lifelong hater of Communism because I not only researched it, but I have also had relationships with people who fled it and also hate it because they had to live under it. Unlike the US, China's government censors things it feels will embolden it's people to reject totalitarian rule.

@BernieSanders This is just a bad take that reflects badly on Sanders motives. You can oppose the oligarchy and fight for working people without being a creepy nazi-tattooed guy with a very questionable record of public statements. Candidates like this will only embarrass you in the long-run.

The Democratic establishment spent millions on negative ads against Platner. The Republican establishment is spending millions on negative ads against Platner. Why? Not complicated. Because Graham is taking on oligarchy and fighting for the working people of Maine and the U.S.
