That educational momentum helped shape the legislative outcome. @RepHarshbarger and @RepJuanVargas introduced a bill last Congress calling for a regional FDA office, doing so with the full support of then-House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair @cathymcmorris, who now serves as a USIEA Fellow. Their language was later incorporated into @RepMcCaul’s “Give Kids a Chance Act,” which passed the House last year. McCaul retained the provision in H.R. 1262 and maintained the FDA office language in Section 9. That language was included in H.R. 7148.

GOP Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger @RepHarshbarger, who represents a rural district in Tennessee, asked UnitedHealthCare @UnitedHealthGrp CEO Stephen Hemsley about his company's large share of the rural market, which is essentially a monopoly. This has led to local pharmacies closing, which empowers PBMs, the pharmacies owned by insurance companies. Hemsley didn’t address Harshbarger's valid and important questions, leading her to ask for his answers in writing. UnitedHealth's PAC has donated to numerous congressional Democrats and congressional Democrat entities, including the @dccc. It is clear President Trump and Congressional Republicans support competition while elected Democrats want ObamaCare monopolies to remain in place at the expense of the American people and their healthcare needs.
