This is sad. I know as a politician these companies are going to spend a billion dollars against me for saying it but 🤷🏽‍♀️ Pervasive gambling is not good for society. It turns life into a casino, traps people in addiction & debt, surges domestic violence, and fosters manipulation.

@TheRideshareGuy Are the RoboTaxi’s equivalent to a Uber Comfort vehicle? The two prices were made 15 minutes apart which could cause a huge price difference. How many people are willing to wait 28 minutes vs 5 minutes for a vehicle. Which ever is selected, the passengers will not be ready.

What do they both have in common though? 🤔

@STATter911 I was freaked out by the images driving tonight. I wondering when they started projecting them because I rode pass a few times and did not notice time. Two minutes later, one side is lit. 30 minutes later, at least three sides are lit.

@Lellius @DriversC2C @sergioaved Here is a incident from last year here in VA. Drunk passengers kicked out of vehicle. One of the passengers wandered onto the interstate. She was struck and killed. Just because you have the right to kick someone out of your car doesn't mean you should. I've been in this exact same situation and it never occurred to me to just leave the poor woman stranded on the side of the road. What are your thoughts? @DriversC2C @sergioaved

@Lellius @DriversC2C @sergioaved I would have considered continuing the trip, if they would have requested I pull over and puked on the side of the road. I once had a female just get out the car with no warning at 4 PM and go puke in a bush. Her friend who ordered the trip had me to continue without her.

@Lellius @DriversC2C @sergioaved The article says she was dropped off near a gas station. I would have dropped her off at the gas station or at the nearest open business. I would not continue the trip 8 miles, if the person vomited inside my vehicle.

@Lellius @brownlynne What market are you in. Non-UberX trips are way better in the DMV. Shared trips are better because of the 2 minute wait. But Uber X, I feel like over 60% are over 4 minutes spent waiting. And 2-4% are 7 minutes and canceled,

@brownlynne About half my riders are toes-to-the-curb when I roll up and maybe 1/10 make me wait 5 min or longer.

Just got this from Uber “We include 1 minute wait time at pickup which is rounded from the national average.” 🤣

I've had two riders complain that if they both go to order a trip, the pricing was different for each. Even with the same pickup and destination.

@lenshermanCBS @Uber @RebeccaBellan @sergioaved I guess it's kind of like hotels that have so much more expensive rates during the weekends and holidays it's just accepted. Uber and Lyft have been doing it since they started and now it's just part of their business.

Uber and Lyft are using data collected from individual riders and drivers to calculate charges and what to pay a driver. Hotels more so use general data to determine pricing (current availability, number of inquiries, cookies).
