@Challenger_ST The “tools” you refer to is god given athleticism. Yes you can always improve your skills, but if you aren’t blessed with the level of athleticism needed for the next level all the practice in the world isn’t making up for that.

No baseball coach ever: “Man, I want that pitcher who throws 76 mph because they made 3 pointers in basketball.” Yes, playing multiple sports can make you more athletic, but you still need the tools for the sport you want to play at the next level

Instead of expanding the tournament, Charlie Baker and the powers at be should focus more on expanding the officiating pool first.

But the top dogs want to be in the big dance. guys like Ayers (who I love) would be in a much better place only doing 4 a week! *btw, all of them have other jobs!

Tell the NCAA and conferences. It's all about $$$. They don't want to pay officials as employees. So, you get incentives to work as many games as possible. Limited time span in years and months. Coaches want top guys. Can't blame the officials. They are given the games.

@highiqreffan @RefObserver17 How much money would they lose doing that 4 games a week max compare to how much they make in the NCAA tournament? How many games will they work in the tournament? One per weekend with no guarantee of the next weekend. So give up how many games for what? 4-5 max? Nope

@RefObserver17 simple answer to these guys working too many games. NCAA does not need to make them employees or run t risk of being sued cause refs are independent contractors....NCAA can make a requirement to work the tournament (which they run)...an official can't work more than 4 gms a week

@CJMooreHoops His long standing grudge against Self was the bigger factor. Self has said clearly in years past that Sirmons does not like him & he blatantly inserted himself into a situation where he was not involved to call the second T. It looked personal.

Doug Sirmons, who ejected Self, is officiating his ninth game in nine days. He’s had one day off since Feb. 15. Not saying it’s an excuse, but you wonder how levelheaded someone can be when working and traveling that much.
