Wrote to CM @siddaramaiah, urging withdrawal of the lifetime tax on EVs - a regressive move against citizen interests and clean mobility. The current global scenario underscores the urgent need to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. India under PM Modi Ji is committed to achieving Net- Zero, yet Karnataka is discouraging EV adoption - a move contrary to national priorities. While states across India are taking steps to promote electric mobility, Karnataka has imposed this tax - simply to extract ₹250 crore from the people to fund the Bankruptcy of the State. Progressive states like Delhi are offering 100% road tax waivers for electric cars below ₹30 lakh and incentivising electric goods vehicles, while Karnataka under the Congress, is moving in the opposite direction. This is not governance. This is regression. #KhaliTrunkSarkara #CongressFailsKarnataka

⚡️Delhi draft EV policy for 2026-2030 is out. ⚡️While some states try to make money from EVs, Delhi is going all in on EVs Salient points ⚡️₹1,00,000 scrappage benefit for EV 4W for first 1,00,000 buyers ⚡️RTO waiver 100% for EVs and 50% for Strong Hybrids for vehicles up to ₹30,00,000 ⚡️2W to get maximum ₹30,000 subsidy and 3W to get maximum ₹50,000 subsidy (Details in images) ⚡️All new government vehicles will be EVs only ➡️ The government is asking for feedback on the policy for the next 30 days. The ongoing West Asia crisis is an important warning on India’s energy dashboard. India imports over 87% of its crude oil requirements. This crisis can be a huge opportunity.  A five-point agenda, comprising 100% electrification of two- and three-wheelers by 2030, CAFE-3, electrification of buses and trucks, a Right to Charge, and a Bharat battery ecosystem, is what the country needs right now. These measures must move together.   Delivering transformational change at scale is not new to India. It has done so before: Jan Dhan Yojana, UPI, solar energy, vaccination, and the shift from Euro IV to Euro VI while bypassing Euro V, among others. What is needed now is a similar level of clarity and execution in the EV transition. Today’s decisive action will shape supply chains, capital flows, and technological leadership for decades to come.  My edit piece in today’s HT:

Short 286 km drive in a day. Started with 91% SOC and ended at 15%. (146 Wh/km) AC running 90% of time at 24 degrees, speed 2. Bonus : No coal was harmed while making the electricity. (Fully charged from off-grid solar).

Fact: Rear discs removed on the 2026 Tata Punch EV True: Yes For saving costs? NO --> this is where most got it wrong. You see, disc vs drum is the key here. The drag on a disc is far more as compared to a drum. And now that Tata had perfected EPB / Auto Hold on drum brakes, they decided to do away with rear disc brakes and got in drums. All to improve efficiency, even if marginally. Braking distance? Remains unchanged! This is what Majority chargers installed by Govt agencies are good for - To boast about the numbers and for babus to write in their files. Not even 20% of the claimed 27,432 OMC chargers are working properly 🤦🏻‍♂️. A good portion isn't energised and others simply don't work.

On Dec 8, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Car Accident A car travelling from Nagpur to Pune crashed into the central divider near Bangav Lahuki Phata after the driver failed to notice a speed breaker. The vehicle caught fire within seconds. All five passengers managed to jump out in time, which saved them from severe burns. The car, however, was completely gutted. This is the third accident at the same spot caused by the speed breaker, and travellers are demanding that the highway authorities take immediate action. #samruddhimahamarg

When human reflexes fail, ADAS doesn’t. #HarrierEV just proved how Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) did literally #save a kids life.

Textbook case of how AEB saves lives. On Indian roads! Child runs across the road from behind an object, in this case a car, and the Tata Harrier.EV's autonomous emergency braking (AEB) throwing the anchor just in time. This is a situation that's not hard to anticipate but literally very difficult to react to. Constantly scanning the underside of cars for people or animals will result in driving stress getting amplified to unhealthy levels. Computers don't get tired. This is where ADAS comes in and helps: cuts stress and helps boost safety. Parents have to obviously be a lot more mindful but I shudder to think what would have happened had the 2 ton SUV hit that child even at say 20 Kph. Here's another instance of a Mercedes GLC's ADAS braking hard and saving a biker. And how can one forget the Volvo truck's ADAS saving a darting school kid. cartoq.com/car-life/merce…
