@NASA @NASAArtemis Why is NASA the most advanced in aeronautics in the world? Are they simply the best, or are they only projected as the best due to Western publicity?

@Kirkland856404 @farazamiruddin Nah, freedom is being able to choose your own transportation. If we supposedly are the greatest country in the world, it shouldn't be a stretch that we have reliable car, buses, and train networks.

@farazamiruddin Freedom is not having to be packed like a sardine into a public car and have to hear mentally ill people shout and make threats at you. Freedom is being able to listen to your own music and have space in your own car

Driving is the MOST government-dependent form of transportation. You’re using a state-issued license to operate a state-registered machine on 100% state-owned land, subsidized by taxpayers. Freedom is not needing a government permission slip & 40k machine to get around.
Rob McNealy@RobMcNealy

@farazamiruddin I have no interest in being dependent on government transportation.

@IsabelleRLabs @NASASpaceflight Well to be fair. Canada really never had the political, industry or public motivation to pursue space. Meanwhile the US, Soviet Union and nowadays China has every reason to.

@NASASpaceflight Every component on B19 mocks Canada's strategic failure. I fear we surrendered advanced aerospace leadership without even resisting decline.

Lights, camera… lunar action. 📸🌕 For Artemis II, Orion will carry 31 cameras designed to capture the mission from every angle. From external cameras mounted on the solar arrays to internal cabin views documenting crew life, these imaging systems will record key moments like launch, solar array deployment, and the spacecraft’s distant journey around the Moon. A dedicated optical navigation camera will photograph Earth and the Moon to help Orion determine its position in deep space, while handheld Nikon Z9 cameras give the crew the ability to capture high‑resolution imagery through the windows.

@ObriWanKanobri @notch Bro is so ignorant that you didn't even know they aren't doing a moon landing. That doesn't happen until Artemis IV. They can't "fake a moon landing" if they never even said they wanted to do a real one.

@Jacks0nPainter @WhiteHouse Yeah I don't get it. NASA already made like a million official renders and videos yet the Whitehouse didn't want to use one. They had to do AI instead.

@Erdayastronaut I'm reading these comments and a lot of people seem to be calling "Artemis II useless and a waste". You misunderstand, it's true the mission won't benefit us directly... But it's about all the journey and advances we make during the entire space program. This is just one step.

I'm honestly SHOCKED at how the general public has NO IDEA Artemis II is taking humans out to the moon and will be the furthest humans have ever flown. Every non-space nerd I've talked to has no idea. WE GOTTA GET PEOPLE STOKED!!!! THESE FOUR HUMANS ARE FLYING TO THE MOON!!!

@marty3dtw @Erdayastronaut Well, think about what the moon offers? It offers scientific gain, but that's not even the biggest thing. If we succeed with the moon, it opens up the rest of space and will cause a huge push in the space industry... and THAT will benefit the average person. Also helium-3 later

@Erdayastronaut So, they go a little bit further away than before. How does that matter? What does humanity gain? With SpaceX launching weekly, the luster of spending billions on a demo is lost.

@Erdayastronaut Tell me how a few adventurers flying near the Moon have anything to do with the average person who is busy trying to put a roof over their heads and food on the table. The answer is nothing, zero, zip.

@captkrahs @Erdayastronaut The public was arguably pretty damn excited (considering there was like, three TV channels back then). But yeah, today is simply just a different time. News and entertainment is fundamentallly different now.

@psilynt @im_carl_ @Erdayastronaut What you said is already the exact plan. SoaceX and Blue Origin are required to do a unscrewed lunar landing, then they are allowed to do a lunar landing.

@im_carl_ @Erdayastronaut I think the next step should be to send an automated craft to land... and return from the surface of the moon WITH all the necessary life support to support a human. Checking to see that the Moon's gravity still works isn't impressive.
